Ukraine and Israel intensified bilateral cooperation.

Only last week the number of meetings and agreements reached the total number of past year’s agreements.

The delegation of the Israeli government, headed by the Minister of Environment Protection and Jerusalem Affairs Ze’ev Elkin are paying a three-day visit to Ukraine. During the visit, Israeli met with President Petro Poroshenko, head of the government Volodymyr Groisman, held a regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Israeli Committee on Economy, signed a protocol on expanding cooperation with the Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.

The talks were focused on cooperation in agriculture, accelerating the establishment of a Free Trade Area, pension agreements, cooperation in the sphere of high technologies, as well as common environmental issues.

A special topic of the meeting was the question of the possibility of the participation of Ukrainian gas companies in the competition for the conversion of Israeli industry. In Israel, for enterprises are used coal brought or even oil, which seriously pollute the air. At the same time, there were several largest gas fields opened in Israel over the past few years, but the country has no experience in the use of gas for the needs of heavy industry. On the contrary, Ukrainians have a rich experience and they are excellent specialists, so Ukrainian companies could help the Israelis in the reorientation of the industry for gas carriers. According to Ze’ev Elkin, switching to gas will significantly improve the environmental situation in the country.

Also at the end of the meeting it was stated that all operational issues for the Free Trade Area will be resolved before the end of the year, and in future it is planned to sign a bilateral agreement.

A Free Trade Area, the creation of jobs for Ukrainian workers, cooperation in the gas sector - are not just a mutually beneficial and long-term projects between Ukraine and Israel. All these steps are aimed to create a stable investment climate in Ukraine and attract Israeli investors and capital.

I am confident that next year we will see a lot of joint Ukrainian-Israeli projects and startups.
