Friends!

On this day in 1908 in Svitavy (now Czech Republic) was born Oskar Schindler - a German industrialist who saved 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust. He was the only member of the Nazi Party, which was buried on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. History feat Oscar Schindler was the basis of the book "Schindler's Ark" and the movie "Schindler's List."

Oskar Schindler was born in a family of German Catholics, Hans Schindler and Frantsyshky Loser. Initially was engaged in business, but went bankrupt during the Great Depression.

When Oscar was 19, he married Emily, daughter of German Jews. She was a year older and hopelessly in love with Oscar. Her parents gave dowry as much as 100 thousand crowns. Family life was not straightforward - Oscar often betrayed wife in the big man's heart could smolder while some loved. But for goodness there also was a lot of space.

In 1939, Schindler joined the Nazi Party, founded a factory for the production of metal ware. Another factory in Krakow he received because of anti-Semitic policy in Poland.

Together with wife they really helped Jews, although this meant that their life was always in danger, at any moment it could end in a gas chamber as his workers. Last redeem those Jews who had to get in Aushvitts, cost 2.6 million Reichsmark yo Schindlers .. But saved people helped them from lynching by Soviet soldiers, Schindler were saved by the Russian-German cook who worked forthem. She said that this Germans are good and have to live.

After the war, Oskar Schindler emigrated to Argentina, but ten years later returned to Germany and left his wife. He traveled to different countries where lived rescued people. In 1967, Oskar Schindler was named Righteous among the Nations.

In the last years of his life he lived to help Jewish organizations and presents rescued his people.

Oscar Schindler’s person over time caused much controversy, people said that he was not a hero. One reason why was the replica of his wife Emily, who said that "this" hero "was a womanizer and a catalytic own life!". But at that moment the woman was already 94 years old and she was very indignant that the film Steven Spielberg's "Schindler's List" did not disclose her role as the main assistant in saving Jews. But the real appreciation cannot be forgotten. Unfortunately, the characters are not always perfect, as we draw them. But most importantly - their brave deeds will remain in history forever.
