Father of Gregory was an ordinary farmer, had a huge family - 12 children! Guri was regent in a choir, because it was he who inspired his children to love music.
When he was 10 years old Gregory started singing in the choir in Chernigov. And before that, imagine, he learned to play the violin. Guy decided to connect his life with music, when he began to study in Chernigov seminary.
At that time, Gregory Huriyovych first met Pavlo Tychina, with whom they became friends. Later, they created a large amateur choir. Tychina wrote about Veryovka and his wife.
In 1918 Gregory began his career as a conductor, a few years later opened a professional music school and became its director, taught conducting at the Kiev Conservatory.
During the Second World War began to make great patriotic songs on poems Tychina, Rylsky and others.
In 1943 was created the Ukrainian National Choir, which he also entrusted to manage. And it was extremely important step. Thanks to the talent of Gregory Veriovka choir became a highly musical group.
The choir has performed not only in the USSR but also abroad - in Romania, Poland, Finland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. To this audience ensemble performed exclusively Ukrainian songs, carefully avoiding Russian repertoire.
An outstanding composer and conductor died in 1964 in Kiev. He is buried at Baikove cemetery.
