Friends!

On this day more than 100 years ago, a famous Ukrainian aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky set a world record! The aircraft of his own design C-6 with two passengers reached the maximum flight speed - 111 km / h!

This legendary man was a student when he began to work on aircraft. The first were helicopters. The only thing Sikorsky missed to realize the dream of iron wings was a powerful engine. To find it, he went to Paris. After the visit, he did not only get new knowledge about the flight, but necessary, like air, "Anzani".

And his first helicopter, unfortunately, never took off. Sikorski worked for a long time, built a new one .. but it did not took off too. Then he began to develop an airplane. It was serious, it Igor with a friend in the institute has built special hangars, hired students and workers. The result of hard work was the creation of aircraft LSI-1 and LSI-2.

Sikorsky S-6 was built without the help of a friend. Extremely helped aerodynamic experiments by which aircraft reworked pilot seat, chassis, fuel tanks and radiator. This helped to develop unprecedented speed at the time!

Later there were other records. But the main mission of helicopters was to rescue people. Thanks to him millions of people all over the world were able to get timely help. There is even a Sikorsky prize, which celebrate heroes of rescue.

Incidentally, in 2019 on the 130 birthday of aircraft in Kiev is planned to open a museum of the history of aviation. It will be located in the former home of Sikorsky.

Friends, do not be afraid to pursue your dreams! Hard work and desire to conquer new horizons can change your life forever.
