Friends, you know, how do I see the future of the Ukraine-Israeli relations?

In common heroes.

Today, from Israel returned home ten Ukrainian rescuers. I'm sure their names should be known by everyone. They are Igor Runayev, Konstantin Kolomin, Andrei Zaitsev, Rodion Petryk, Alexander Shevchuk, Michael Antonenko, Igor Bubino, Sergey Fishchuk, Oleg Romashchenko, Vladimir Levchenko. They completed the task exemplary and helped extinguish the fire near Haifa.

For that they received awards from the Israeli government. I also would like to thank them and express my delight to their professional actions and dedication.

Such things as timely assistancefor the friend country, is a good illustration of the positive development of relations between Ukraine and Israel. Moreover, Ukraine did not only provide assistance in the form of aircraft, but also humanitarian aid, and it is a manifestation of the power of the state. The country is going through difficult times, but the ability to hear other people's misfortune and the desire to help to solve it overcome exalt. This is not only biblical expression of goodwill, but also proof that Ukraine and its forces should be considered in the international arena.

Thank you again for all the help and support!

Friends!

Today I want to remember with you remember a well-known artist and human rights activist Alla Horska. On this day in 1970, she was killed in Vasylkiv, Kyiv district. Officially she was killed by father in law, but in fact - it was a political killing under the auspices of the KGB.

This remarkable woman was born in the Crimea, Yalta, she was the son of Alexander Gorsky – well-known organizer of film production, one of the founders of Ukrainian cinema. Subsequently, the family had to live in Moscow and Leningrad, and in Alma-Ata. In late 1943 they moved to Kyiv.

Alla was extremely intelligent and talented, graduated from art school with honors and later joined the Kyiv Art Institute. There she met her love - artist Viktor Zaretsky, who was a few years older. He turned all her life upside down.

Alla’s husband led the Creative Youth Club, known as the October’s palace thirteenth room. It was a center of Ukrainian life in Kyiv. Creative company prompted Alla to radical changes - when she was 30, she decided to consciously learn Ukrainian. The teacher was a journalist Nadia Svetlichnaya. They wrote a lot, and more - studied the history of Ukraine. Since that times Horska has spoken only Ukrainian, but with an Leningrad emphasis.

She did a lot for Ukrainian culture - organized creative and artistic evenings, exhibitions, annual laying of flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko. But everything changed in one day. To their Club came the news: in the room №13 at the times of war was the tourture room of the NKVD. Nothing seemed so- where previously were cameras, now was the wardrobe. But it made Horska and her friends set up a committee to collect materials about the Stalinist repressions. Together with the poet Vasyl Symonenko and director Les Tanyuk they were its most active members, they spent days asking those, who were lucky enough to return from the Gulag.

So they came to Bykivnya - terrible place, where secretly were buried the victims of the communist regime, politically repressed Ukrainians, killed by the hands of the NKVD. Alla was stunned: "Imagine - showed toward the graves - we - there ... Well, we all - Creative Youth Club. We can all be there ...".

Unfortunately, Alla’s words came true. First died Vasyl Symonenko - after exposure of places of burial of murderedat the Lukyanovka cemetery he was detained by Cherkassy police. They repulsed his kidney. He didn’t live long.Someone started to threaten Alla. Creative Youth Club - had to close.

But Alla did not left people rights protect activities. She systematically and materially and morally supported the families of political prisoners, corresponded with them. Horska was spied. That’s why killers knew about her plan to take the sewing machine from her father in law. Together with her husband they wanted to go there, but suddenly appeared overnight guests who brought Daniel - Mordovia camp prisoner, who wanted to tell his story. Theylistened, and gatherings dragged late into the night - Alla went to bed, and her husband looked after the guests. So his wife went for the machine herself.

Victor found Alla on the third day - killed, she lay in the cellar of his father's house. Initially, investigators demanded from him a confession – they wanted Victor to confess that he killed his wife because of a mistress. And later theyfound the body of his father Victor on rails near Vasilkov. So he became responsible for the murder.

Unfortunately, the details of this terrible tragedy are unknown until now – all the evidences of a murder weredestroyed. All friends of Horska, who participated in the mourning ceremony, namely Eugene Sverstyuk, Vasyl Stus, Olesya Sergienko - soon were arrested.

Friends, I am sure that the history of people like Alla Horska, has to be remembered by everyone. She left a lot of great art masterpieces, but the greatest thing she did to truth and justice – she gave her life. Doing something for a better life and enlightenment of people, knowing that you can die for it, is extremely difficult. But there are people willing to go for it. They need to be respected through the centuries.

Friends!

On this day 142 years ago was born the first President of Israel Chaim Weizmann.

This remarkable figure was born in a family of merchant Ozer in Russian Empire. Ozer had 15 children, Haim was third. While his father worked all the time, he was interested in reading. He made his son love the books. Unfortunately, Haim could not enter the university in Russia, because jews had no due for that. But he successfully entered chemistry faculty in Berlin.

There he became acquainted with the works of Theodore Hretsl and discovered Zionism - Jewish nationalism. At the age of24 he participated in the World Congress of Zionists, before -that he received a doctorate in chemical sciences.

Later Haim moved to England, where he taught biochemistry at the University of Manchester. Weizmann liked the country, and especially - its structure. When Hretsl died, Haim became a leader of Zionism and was able to spread his ideas not only toglobal authorities, but to ordinary people. Weizmann was the the reason why England wrote so-called "Balfour Declaration", which even in 1917 was about "the establishment of the national center for the Jewish people in Palestine."

Haim worked all his lifetime to create the State of Israel. Twice he was elected as a president of the World Zionist Organization. In this capacity, he participated in the UN, when it discussed the partition of Palestine into two independent states - Jewish and Arab. It was Weizman, who insisted that Negev desert has to be the part of Israel.

"Old Doctor" – this way Haim was called by US President Harry Truman. He did not understand the Zionism, but meeting with Weizman changed all. Thus the United States became the first country to recognize the State of Israel, in fact - Truman has allocated $ 100 million loan to develop the economy of the new state.

Not surprisingly, in 1949, Hhaim Weizmann was invited to become the first president of Israel. He readily agreed, but did not expect that the post actually will be formal and real power will be managed in the hands of first Prime Minister - David Ben-Gurion. Then he sighed: "My handkerchief is the only place where I can poke my nose." But he remained in office until his death, working in parallel to create a research center, which now bears his name.

Friends, Haim Weizmann always believed that, despite the hostile environment, Israel will flourish. I'm sure the same fate isawaiting Ukraine, because the aggressor, who is near, will never be able to suppress the potential that is in the country.

Today in Ukraine it is extremely memorable and painful day. At the fourth Saturday of November we carry mourning in honor of the Day of the victims of Holodomor.

Ukraine has experienced three waves of hunger. The worst one was in 1932-1933. The exact number of deaths we don’t know even today. But it was thousands of Ukrainians who were forced to die in a horrible way. It cannot be forgotten or forgived.

We know who made the decision to kill them. Stalin's totalitarian regime was the author, who planned the extermination of the Ukrainian people. Its representatives were drowned in blood, because they took the lives not only of the greates representatives of the nation. Millions of children remained unborn because of their actions. It is the eternal pain.

I am absolutely sure that the world should recognize Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people. Unfortunately, it was made only by 24 countries. The fact is that now in Ukraine there are other important issues that has to be decided on the world stage, and this topic is not given as much attention as necessary. But I am sure time will pass and it will change. I'm sure among the countries that will recognize this decision will be Israel.

Friends, today at 16.00 we all have to light a candle on the windowsill and spend a minute in silence. Let’s think about them and remember those who died in those terrible years. Memory unites us and makes us stronger.

Friends!

I think all of you have already known that Israel is on fire. The terrible fire has 11 cells, the worst situation is in Haifa and its surroundings. Although now the fire is localized, thousands of people cannot return home, because there is a possibility of renovation of fire.

The cause of the tragedy is vile and vicious as any manifestation of terror. It is arson. 12 involved have already been put under arrest. Their actions destroyed 700 homes completely, fortunately, all people survived.

Last time, such a strong fire appeared in Israel in 2010. Yesterday I saw the deep concern in the eyes of the Israeli parliament speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein, in the eyes of each member of the delegation. I extremely wanted to help them. Ukraine has not remained aloof of the problem.

President Petro Poroshenko ordered two specialized aircraft An-32P from State Service for Emergency Situations to fly to Israel. In the evening, they will put out the fire.

I thank each of you for the comments, support, kind words. That's what really unites us. I am confident that by extending a helping hand to each other, Ukraine and Israel become even closer friends. I wish that aggression of terrorists would leave our lands as soon as possible.

Friends!

The last two days I spent at various official events together with the delegation of Israel. These days Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein came to Kyiv. This is the first visit of the Speaker of the Israeli parliament to Ukraine in the past 23 years! Therefore, an action plan was quite intense.

The first day we spent at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Yuli Edelstein and Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Andrew Paruby signed a memorandum on cooperation. Besides, we all talked a lot about the prospects of Israeli-Ukrainian relations. Also, during various meetings with Ukrainian parliamentarians we discussed cooperation in the fields of medicine, new technologies. Yuli Edelstein also expressed hope that the agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Israel will start its work in 2017.

Today there was another interesting event - Forum "Ukraine - Israel 2016". There we also lifted all the themes I mentioned, and even discussed the deepening of cultural knowledge. Ukrainians and Jews know each other more outdated by the canons of both nations, our goal with you now -sis to modernize these ideas. Of course, it is extremely important to know and remember the story in which we have much in common, but it is equally important to understand people, who are living on Ukrainian and Israeli lands now. Then we can go forward with high helded head.

Of course, the Israeli delegation visited the Memorial of the victims of the Holodomor. There, representatives of both countries lighted candle in their memory and laid flowers at the eternal sign of respect. I think the recognition of this tragedy is clear and will soon be embodied in reality by the Israeli Knesset.

After the Revolution of Dignity the friendship and cooperation between Ukraine and Israel is growing by leaps and bounds. I am pleased with it and I am confident that in the further we expect a lot of interesting initiatives, that will be implemented in practice. I put much effort to it and continue to help it because we have a lot to learn from each other.

Friends, today Ukraine celebrates the Day of Dignity and Liberty!

Right on the 21th of November, 2013 began the first protests on Independence Square, which turned into a Revolution of Dignity. Interestingly, the day later in 2004 the Orange Revolution began.

I think that all of you remember the events, which happened three years ago as if they happened yesterday. I always remember these feelings of people, wich I recounted to Israelis to understand what was going on in Ukraine. First - it was disappointing of passionate young professionals, when the government suspended the course to European integration. Viktor Yanukovych then decided not to sign the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. In the country there were global dissatisfaction prevailed by so-called "family" of Yanukovych, whobuilt shady schemes and robbed Ukraine and did not work on its development. Indignation was natural, therefore, journalists, students, active users of Facebook first came to the central square of the capital to say "no" to all this nonsense.

Fever protests then spread to other cities. It was the only impulse of people, who were completely interested in the fate of their country. After that, peaceful rallies were spoiled by blood. Then the revolution became different, comprehensive, universal. Blood was the symbol of a certain desire of power that wants to crush those who stand otherwise. The beating of students, burning tires, weapons, paving, "Molotov cocktails" Berkut, snipers shot and "Heavenly hundred" - all these terrible things somehow embody the events of the revolution of dignity. One of the most tragic and most needed events in the history of modern Ukraine.

This day has to stay forever in our memory in honor of those killed and wounded Ukrainian, who fiercely fought injustice with and for our future. It took three years, but the process that began on 21 st of November is still pending. Ukrainian are still fighting for honest government, for democracy, for freedom. This is not an easy burden, but we continue to carry it, because we paid too much to leave everything as it was.

I wish you all the strength, courage and patience. Stay honest with yourselves and your homeland and never put the hands down!

Друзі! Сьогодні дуже важливий день.

Друзья! Сегодня на мировом уровне отмечают Международный день мужчин.

Friends!

Yesterday, in a Tel Aviv hospital "Ihilov" died one gorgeous woman. She was 94 years old, her name was Pnina Hrinshpan-Frimer. She was one of the last living heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which took place in 1943.

Since 1941, Eastern European Jews in ghettos have tried to start resisting the enemy. To do this they secretly accumulated weapons or made them by themselves. This Jewish underground numbered about a hundred of different groups, the most active of which was located in the Warsaw ghetto. It was called the Jewish Combat Organization and was formed when the 300,000 Jews were deported from Warsaw to the death camp "Treblinka".

Then those who were left alive united to defend. Among them was Pnina. The first action of the rebels occurred in January 1943 when soldiers opened fire against the Nazis, who were preparing another group of people for deportation. The enemies retreated and this extremely small victory inspired militant organization.

The uprising began on the 19th of April 1943 and lasted nearly a month. Just 750 soldiers tried to restrain the powerful German army, which had the advantage on the numbers and arms. So, in the end, Jewish Combat Organization were overcome. Then 7,000 Jews were shot on the spot, more than 5,000 were burned alive. More than 50 000 people were sent to concentration camps.

But hundreds of people survived. They were able to reach the camp of partisans, which was out of the city and continued to fight. Others, including Pnina, hided in the Polish city blocks. The fight was the meaning of her life, and she united her heart with the heart of another Jewish resistance fighter - Haim. After the war, they lived a wonderful life together in Israel. And now they are buried near on the cemetery.

We all have to honor the people who fought against injustice and cruelty, and were not afraid to pay the highest price - gave their own lives. I think every Ukrainian knows with this feeling of absolute respect. Do not forget your heroes and appreciate their role in your present.

Today one of the committees of the Council of the European Union can finally give the "green light" to the visa-free regime for Ukraine.

Many Ukrainian believe, that this issue is extremely important. Some associate it with the Revolution of dignity and its requirements, while others see this as a positive signal of the development of the country.

However, so far things were the same. Granting visa-free regime at all times was transferred and detained, the official version, this it was due to the fact that "the EU is discussing the mechanism of suspension of visa-free regime with third countries if it will be necessary." And yet, most likely Ukrainians will get it as a "gesture of generosity" right before the EU-Ukraine Summit, which will be held next week.

I am sure that opening the borders of the European Union is the only true and obvious step that have been already have to happen. For example, an agreement on visa-free regime between Ukraine and Israel was signed back in 2010, and started in 2011. During this time, passenger traffic of tourists between the two countries increased by 10 times!

The distance between the two countries declined. Ukrainians and Israelis began to go over to each other, communicate, relax together. In addition, there were many signed agreements in trade and economy fields. Already, the trade turnover between the countries has reached $ 1 billion. And it is not the limit for Ukraine and Israel, who are preparing an agreement on a free economic zone.

Moreover, yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on temporary employment between Ukraine and Israel. It means that 20 000 construction workers from Ukraine will be able to get a formal work in Israel under the simplified system.

We are actively developing cultural and scientific projects between countries that will help to cultivate mutual unique experience.

I am sure that Ukraine will overcome all barriers and finally gain freedom. At least in the visa issue. It is a symbolic thing for everyone. I hope that the EU, as well as Israel, will dare to take this step. Moreover, it will bring only good results.

I want to congratulate all of us with the fact that the UN General Assembly yesterday adopted a very important resolution, entitled "Situation of human rights in the Crimea and the city of Sevastopol (Ukraine)." This is a historic document initiated by Ukraine, made with another 41 countries - members of the United Nations.

This resolution first among all official documents of the United Nations recognizes Russian Federation the occupier and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol - temporarily occupied territory. The document confirms the territorial integrity of Ukraine and recognizes the annexation of the Crimea.

This historic decision was supported by 73 countries. Among those who were "for" Ukraine there is, of course, Israel. Instead, countries, which previously was considered by Ukrainian almost like opposed "family" were against. Among them there are Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and, no doubt, Russia.

This proves once again that Israel is a true friend of Ukraine, particularly in the international arena. I hope this support will grow as root in all sectors of Ukraine-Israeli relations. I am sure together we can develop other important initiatives, implement them and stand shoulder to shoulder in solving significant problems.

The most beautiful Butterfly, the best Aida, the unique Gioconda.

This words are about one of the greatest opera singers of the world, wonderful Ukrainian Solomiya Krushelnytska. Exactly 64 years ago she was gone, and the memory of this outstanding woman we have to carry through the centuries.

She was born in the Ternopil region in the family of priest. She began to sing in childhood, her voice was unusually strong for a young age. First she performed in public when she was only 10. Beautiful Solomiya always developed her gift, and studied at the Lviv Conservatory. Later that year was her debut on the opera stage. On the 15th of April, 1893, she played the role of Leonora in the performance of composer Gaetano Donizetti Italian "Favorite" on the stage of the Lviv City Theatre Skarbek.

She went to Italy to improve her skills. There she learned from the best professors, studied 8 foreign languages, traveled through half of the world with performances. Every year she returned to sing to her Homeland, where even wals kept her warm. Moreover, despite the extraordinary popularity around the world, the singer was always mindful of her origin, and performed on encore only Ukrainian songs.

The most famous opera of Krushelnytska was "Madame Butterfly." After the premiere audience for seven times asked actors and composer to come to the stage. After that Puccini sent his portrait to Solomiya with the inscription: "to the most beautiful and charming Butterfly".

Krushelnytska was absolutely incredible professional and hardworking person. On the day of the act, she talked to no one. She always came 2 hours before the performance and applied make up on herself. She had no "star disease" or a hint of pride or vanity.

Opera star never dated her rich fans, Solomiya married a simple Italian lawyer. After his death, she returned home, and when World War II began, travel abroad has failed. The last concert of opera legend was held at the Lviv Philharmonic. Krushelnytska was 77, she went on stage with a cane and charmed all with her voice.

She died of throat cancer on the 16th of November, 1952. Legend was buried in Lviv, in the Lychakiv cemetery near the Ivan Franko.

Thanks to innovative technologies, today we, dear readers, can easily find the record of excellent singing of Ukrainian opera diva and hear her melodious and strong vocals. So, do it and remember - Ukrainian were always among the best and greatest men. I like to think about them and share those memories with you.

Today, on my initiative Presidium of the Knesset of Israel, approved the review of the resolution on recognition of Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people. The parliamentarians will discuss the issue this week. This is an important step, which all Ukrainians deserve, that will unite our two nations.

The way to the resolution was not easy. You know, the Israeli parliament for years could not accept such a resolution. I admit, specifically to convince Israeli MPs, I drove them to the National Museum "Memorial to Holodomor victims." Then, during the mourning activities in honor of the 75th anniversary of the tragedy in Babyn Yar, this visit was the cornerstone. After that, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Tally Ploskov, Nava Boker and Yehiel Bar, said they now understood why the decision on recognition of Holodomor is vital. Nava Boker, at my request, raised this issue in the Knesset. Now Israel may be the 25th country to officially recognize this tragic crime of the Stalinist regime.

Friends, I am extremely happy to be part of this historic process. I believe because of this decision Ukraine and Israel will become even closer countries. Who else, if not the Israelis who survived the Holocaust, can understand the tragedy of the extermination of Ukrainian by ruthless and bloodthirsty Stalin's regime? We share this grief together. I believe that my actions confirm this, and the actions of the Knesset – as well.

Today the world celebrates the International Day of the Blind. Unfortunately, now blind life ot the blind people in Ukraine is not easy. There are not decent sufficient number of jobs, proper support. And usually when the world is against you, man reveals the most.

On this occasion, I will tell you the story of Abraham Nemeth. He was born in the Jewish family in New York and has been blind since childhood. And parents were not afraid, they decided that the visually impaired - is not a sentence, so began to fully develop the baby. The guy loved figures and taught them by groping, touching them, particularly on the mailboxes. Mother let him to shopping alone - he had to cope with this burden, find a store and bring the necessary purchases home.

In the Hebrew school for the blind, he learned to read and write by Braille, also started playing the piano. Because Abraham always learned something new, his memory was so good that he could perform mathematical operations without the use of additional tools.

He could not study mathematics, because it seemed that a person with low vision can never prove theorems and solve endless problems. So he learned a psychologist and played the piano in bars - this way he earnined money for living.

But he did not leave his dreams. He freely attended favorite subjects at Columbia University. After the Second World War, he even taught mathematics to its veterans. Then Abraham decided to improve the braille code in a way that it could help to work withmathematical symbols and formulas. To the history this innovation came as "Nemeth Code." Now it is used around the world. And Abraham Nemeth improved it to the last day of his life.

Friends! This example shows that most blind people need support and understanding of their needs. We all need to open new horizons together and put it on purpose.

I like to tell you different stories about the Israeli parliament - the Knesset. It is indeed very modern, because of advanced technologies, it’s work is established in the best way. I told that some things can be borrowed by a Parliament of Ukraine. Today I was able to talk about it in person with the first Deputy Head of the parliament - the manager Peter Bodnar.

Together with the General Director of the Knesset Albert Saharovychem we met with him and talked about ways to improve theParliament. I suggested that the curious ones can be borrowed from the Israeli Knesset.

First and foremost we talked about safety. This issue in Ukraine have to become the leading one, because the country is in a state of constant struggle against the aggressor. In Israel it is extremely important. After identifying any significant failure in the field of security Israelis relentlessly change all the relevant management departments. We also spoke about internal security, especially inVerkhovna Rada. Inside the building it has to be the own police. And not in order to protect parliamentarians from the people, but to stop provocateurs from fights, disputes, and other events when officials behave unacceptably.

We spoke with Mr. Bodnar about electronic voting system "Rada". Unfortunately, it’s improvement was suspended due to lack of funds. But technological innovation is extremely necessary. I believe MPs should vote in person. In addition, following the example of the Israeli Knesset, we should make the board near Verkhovna Rada, in wich all the interested persons could see how many people are now in the building.

A separate question - environmental friendliness. Parliament should give an example throughout the country how to save resources and do not spend a lot of public money on something that can be ignored.

Ukraine and Israel are young countries, and Israel was able to become one of the first in various aspects. All this because the country was able to overcome its problems and make them not a disadvantage, but an advantage. I hope that Ukraine will not feed back and be able to reach a new stage of development. At least I put all this on effort.

Friends, I believe that each of you were in a situation when while leaving the house, you could not find phone, keys and other important things in the bag.

At such moments, it is possible to spend half an hour looking for the needed thing. Or another case - you have some extremely important thing that you put somewhere, time passed, and where is it – you forgot. Familiar?

In such cases, I often joked that everything should have built-in search engine with alarm. Suddenly I found that was invented by Israeli photographer Roi Galitz. He was afraid to lose memory card with photos, or any of his lenses, because he has a whole arsenal.

Then Roi invented a startup called GearEye. This is tracking system that helps to find any lost thing. You have to put on the most important subjects stickers. Than you put them to the bag, with a special device that signals when something falls or helps to find missing things. All information tracker sends to the mobile phone owner.

Now if you lose something, do not grasp at heart. You can only check the smartphone. This interesting idea was realized by Roy and Julia – startup professional born in Kiev. Together they brought the invention to the platform of the total fundraising to implement - crowdfunding. The required amount for implementation, was 60 thousand dollars, they managed to get it in 3 days! Now they collected nearly 90,000, and the campaign will continue for another two months.

Friends, I often draw attention to the fact that the most successful ideas are actually on the surface. You should just reach out to them!

Friends.

Today I want to tell you about a terrible event for all the Jews that is known as "Kristallnacht" or "Night of broken glass." I'm sure none of you will remain indifferent.

All of you know that Adolf Hitler did extraordinary efforts in order to make “undesirable” people for him emigrate from the country, he introduced draconian laws that made life of Jews in the country impossible. But they suffered. It extremely irritated Hitler, so he decided to "remove" all Jews by the total hate. But how to make people rebel? The head of the Third Reich knew for sure. He decided to tarnish the reputation of Jews one of them is used to, at least, kill a German diplomat. The task was not easy. He asked Reinhardt Heydrich, who already had experience of such operations, to do it. He picked up the "victim" - Herschel Grynszpan who was around 17 years old. He moved to France from Germany, lived with his uncle and "met" with the secretary of the German embassy in the country Ernst von Rat.

While he searched for a specific 'object' in Germany the great pogrom was prepared. They increased camps and marked Jewish shops. On the 28th of October began the deportation of 17,000 Jews - they were sent to the border with Poland. For the few days’ people had to stand on a neutral strip between the two countries, because none wanted to take them. Among the deportees was also Hryunshpan’s family that sent the boy a letter, asking to transfer a little money. It was intercepted by the Gestapo agents, one of whom had attempted to persuade Herschel to kill and gave him money for weapons. Agent succeeded. On the 9th of November Herschel came to the embassy, where he, without any search, went tp von Rath. Guy released him by the few bullets, but did not kill, only wounded. He was arrested.

This attempt – was the greatest thing Hitler wanted. It was the catalyst for the Nazis, who launched a bloody real tornado. They ran to buildings, beaten, raped, killed Jews. They crushed shop windows, and because of the broken glass that glittered like crystal, that terrible night got its name. The Nazis destroyed the synagogues, those who were on vacant lots, they set on fire, ones which were near the German property crushed. In general, according to various sources, on the "Crystal Night" were killed between 90 to 400 Jews, hundreds of people have committed suicide, thousands were arrested and sent to concentration camps. Generally, there were burned hundreds of synagogues and smashed thousands of stores.

Ernst vom Rath, incidentally, survived the assassination attempt. Then Hitler sent to Paris his doctor Karl Brandt, who had to "save" the diplomat. He did it well - he poured him the blood of another group. Herschel Grynszpan hoped to escape because of the US Jewish organization forwarded him 20 thousand dollars for a lawyer. And while he was in prison, and was waiting for the court, Hitler's troops captured Paris. According to one version, Herschel died in Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

In memory of this terrible event on the 9th of November is celebrated the International Day against fascism, racism and anti-Semitism. Friends, I believe that there will never be a fire of hatred in your hearts. Because it destroys a person from the middle. Do not let anyone to manipulate your mind and attitude. And value others the most, their lives and welfare. Then you will get only good in return.

Friends, did you know that the proto-type of the legendary spy James Bond was Ukrainian?

Ian Fleming, the author of the adventures of "007" admitted, that the main hero was almost "copied" from the British spy Sidney Reilly. And only few people know that it's fake name. The real one was Solomon Rosenblum, and he was born in Ukraine.

His story is very complicated, and it still remains a lot of white spots. Solomon was known as Samuel, and Sigmund, and Shlomo. There are several versions of where he was born. First one - somewhere in the Kherson province, the second - in Odessa. Solomon was the illegitimate son of a famous court agent Michael Rosenblum, but he lived with father’s cousin Hershey Rosenblum and his wife Sophia. Future Spy grew as a smart guy, graduated from high school and learnt at the Novorossiysk University at physics and mathematics faculty. Moreover, he knew 7 languages, and it extremely helped him in the future. And then he realized: Jews in Odessa began to live worse, so he had to search for a better life. Moreover, robbery skills opened him the whole world. In addition, he has managed to go behind bars - through participation in the revolutionary group "Friends of Enlightenment". So, Solomon decided to stage his own suicide and escape. He wrote a letter to his mother that his body would be found under the ice in the harbor of Odessa and went to Brazil.

In the jungles of the country began his career as a legendary spy. He took part in the British expedition during which he saved the agent-spy. Guy in gratitude helped him to obtain citizenship of the UK and move in there. And there, in one version, he married a rich widow, Margaret Thomas- Riley. There is a version, that she became a widow after meeting Solomon.

He started to work as spy in 1897, firstly moved to St. Petersburg, where told everyone that he was rich, lived life the way he loved most, including wealth, parties and beautiful women. And in 1903 he decided independently to crank an operation. He sold to the Japanese the plan of the Russian port of Port Arthur, although he was friends with them. After he sent the drawing to Britain, and then he completely revealed its nature, Solomon only played on his own side. And on the side of money. And he was not disclosed.

Later he returned to St. Petersburg and established a peaceful life, opened a firm of marine transportation of goods, felt like a cheese in butter. He was engaged in "industrial" espionage – he gave Russian secret inventions plans abroad. And at the beginning of World War I Riley moved to America.

He returned immediately to the Soviet Union at the request of the management in London. He just hated the Bolsheviks passed a note to Britain that "any cost this abomination that was born in Russia, should be destroyed." Historians say that it was Riley who organized the attempt on Lenin in August 1918, known as the "Conspiracy of three ambassadors." For this he was sentenced in absentia to death.

But the brilliant spy finally was caught on someone else's bait. We know the story called Operation "Trust". Then Soviet spies lured Riley and Socialist Party leader Boris Savinkov to the Union and executed them. But we don’t exactly know, when Solomon was killed. It is told that in 1925. And there are versions that spy even managed to agree with his executioners, and in fact he changed his name and worked in their favor. But his dream was not realized. This Ukrainian Jew sighed: "... I was just in millimeters near to become ruler of Russia." Who knows what would have happened then?

Friends!

Today we celebrate 80 years since the birth of famous Ukrainian Mykola Vingranovsky. I want you to rememberhim, because honor of such wonderful artists, who lifted Ukraine have to be remembered through the centuries. I shall tell some interesting facts you may not know about him.

Mykola Vingranovsky was born in the Mykolaiv region. Now we know him as a famous actor, director, and most of all - the poet of the sixties, but at the childhood he was a simple country boy, perhaps a little dreamy, who could go to feed the flock and lose half of it because of dreams. But he noticed all that the eye of the average person passed, and was able to enjoy it.

Vingranovsky was extremely talented and charismatic. It helped him to enter the university in Kiev. All decided the exam where a man had to play a spectator of film with Charlie Chaplin. All entrants before him laughed and pretended fun and Vingranovsky just sat down on a chair and fell asleep. Commission was impressed, and later so was Olexander Dovzhenko. Master arrived to Kyiv to recruit a group of top students who later went to study with him in Moscow. Mykola Vingranovsky became his student and it influenced his work a lot.

Vingranovsky starred in Dovzhenko’s film "Tale of ardent years," for which he even received an award in Los Angeles. After the university he began to work at the Kiev Film Studio. It seems it was so long ago, but while working he saw the difference between Ukrainian and Russian, which became apparent to all just now:

"Directors of the studio in Kiev were slightly strange, they spoke slowly, with pauses, like thay breathed deep into and could notbreath the air out. But when they spoke, their voices were copper! But pople from Russia behaved - as if they were Marshal Zhukov! And this directors looked at all like from the height of the Kremlin ruby stars! This way they looked on Roland Sergienko and me. But after the grand success of "The Tale of ardent years," all of them were nothing for me.”

At the student times Vingranovsky began to write poetry, and after the success of Dovzhenko’s film he released the first book of poems "Nuclear preludes." His words were very important for Ukraine at the time, when only 5 years ago the Stalin cult wasdebunked and all began to evolve differently. Critics said that Vingranovsky had something from two - from Shevchenko and from Dovzhenko and this can not but argued. The strong image of Ukraine, love and understanding of people and their fate - are the main features of the works of Mykola Vingranovsky. He had an unique language, in which he spoke about the homeland, the parents, thelove. His words became a guide for many past and future generations.

Mykola Vingranovsky unfortunately died before his people again began to struggle for independence and freedom - things that he respected the most. But despite this, his immortal words were heard repeatedly from the Maidan stage in different years, urging Ukrainian fight for their country and justice.

Until his death he lived in Kiev, and ardently wanted to return to the village – he wanted to buy a small tractor and cultivate the land. And not because he was old, he was only 67 years old. That is how he saw further development of Ukraine, which, like his life, started with work on the land, which for some reason the next generation stopped to appreciate. Friends, value your landyou’re your heroes!

I want to tell you something very interesting. Have you ever heard about thr secret intelligence unit in the IDF? It is called 9900, and is engaged to the exploration of electronic data. But its feature is different. There are people who have autism.

Thanks to some violation of the nervous system this soldiers work with the information several times faster, specific opportunities help them to cope with extremely large data sets, and notice that the average human eye may miss. These skills have saved hundreds of lives.

First recruits with autism were taken in 2013. The idea arose suddenly. In one family of Israeli military man died a son, also a soldier, who served at the border with Gaza. To his funeral came some father’s Army friends. One shared problem, he told about his two sons, who are still alive, but seemingly not - because they got autism and no one wants to get in touch with them. A retired spy heard it. Later the idea came to his mind, he understood, that unique skills of autistic people have to be used. The idea was supported by the director of foreign spy intelligence service "Mossad" Tamir Pardo. He worked out a plan of action, developed a program to train new recruits, which includes even the course of socialization, so they could easily work with commanders and colleagues.

It took 3 years and this unit became one of the most elite. And this is not the limit. Now the Israeli army launched a project "Roim rehok" («We see it far"). This is the three-month specialized training, after which the soldiers with features of mental development can gain wider knowledge that will help them to switch to any other squad of IDF.

Thus, the Israeli military didn’t only solve the problem of the employment of autistic people and their further socialization, but also once again raised the IDF to a new level, because the ability of new soldiers helped to carry out the necessary work better and faster.

I am sure the Ukrainian army is still at the stage of its development, the decades without funding and improving the material base did not pass by. So Ukrainian Army has to borrow these ideas. We must not be afraid of dramatic and sometimes risky decisions that may fundamentally change the army and bring it to the next level.

Each of us has its own special concept of happiness, that arises from the experience and expertise that person receives in life. And I'm sure that most happy moments a person can gain by assistance to others. It nourishes the soul by kindness and gratitude, gives strength and meaning of existence. I always try to support and help those, who are in need.

Especially - children. And it is not even about some global support. Believe me, the slightest gesture to those who need it - is a big deal. Recently representatives of charity "Help for the Future” asked me about the help. They asked about the little things - tickets to the cinema for children, who are treated at Children's Hospital "OKHMATDYT."

You know that there are dozens of children with serious diagnoses, who even don’t go out of the hospital. Many of them had never been in a movie theater! And for the kids from the area of ATO it is generally an unprecedented adventure. It is so sad and regrettable that it is difficult to imagine.

After the visit the chief doctor wrote me. "Good day - it is not enough; the day was SUPER! You will not believe, but children with diabetes had normal sugar, but they ate plenty of goodies. And the joy of kids from Donbass was great, they were from Donetsk, Luhansk, Volnovakha, Dobropillya, Kostiantynivka! "

I am happy to make them a little bit happier. I wish them a soon recovery, bright days and bright impressions!

I urge you, dear friends, not to be indifferent. Extend a helping hand to those who need it and you will become richer. At least spiritually.

"Peace is not concluded with a friend. Peace laids with the enemy."

This is the immortal quote of Yitzhak Rabin, Israel's prime minister, a strong and resolute man. On this day 21 years ago he was killed. Treacherously. Shot in the back.

Yitzhak Rabin was born in Jerusalem, and you will not be surprised when I tell you that he came, like many prominent Israeli figures from Ukraine. His grandfather, Menachem Rabichov lived in Kyiv region, and his father emigrated to the US when he reached adulthood.

Yitzhak, the child of Israel, was fully committed to it. He was a legend, he led major military operations in the war in 1947 - 1949 years. In 1967, when the Six-Day War unfolded, it was he, who headed the General Staff and under his command Israel won a brilliant victory over Egypt, Syria and Jordan.

The Israelis loved him and most of all – believed him. The man who saw the war, he told that "Palestinians should be destroyed to thebone," but completely changed his views when sat in the Prime Minister's seat again. As a prudent man, he understood that citizens are tired of the war and terrorism, the constant threat about life. He decided to sign the agreement in Oslo, which was used to bring peace to Israel's land. In all cells, he shook hands with his worst enemy - Yasser Arafat, the PLO leader. For this, they both and Shimon Peres received the Nobel Peace Prize. That could be a new page in the history of Israel. The page for which the Israelis were waiting.

And there was no way it should have happened. Extremist Yigal Amir decided that Yitzhak Rabin had betrayed everyone and deservesto die. And he identified himself as the "messenger of God" who should send Rabin to the other world. Several times he tried to commit a murder, but he could not. But the terrible day came. Yitzhak Rabin came to speak to the people to the square of the Kings of Israel in Tel Aviv, on this occasion hundreds of thousands of Israelis brought together. He spoke at with them about peace. When hewent off the stage, right in the parking lot, near his car, waited the killer. Several shots from a pistol "Beretta" to the back, and the guards pushed Rabin into a car and took him to the hospital. And the way took several times longer than usual. Thousands of people stopped to congratulate the prime-minister car and were not even aware that he was mortally wounded and will be dead in a few hours.

The death of Yitzhak played a big role in the peace process with the Palestinians. More precisely, his finish. His successors failed to negotiate with Arafat on reasonable terms. He did not respect anybody except Rabin. After his death Arafat even visited his wife Leia, to express condolences.

But the killer is still alive. Yigal Amir was sentenced to life imprisonment. He is very proud of his act and considers himself a national hero. Even in prison, he married - to a Russian woman Larissa. What an irony, right? She later gave birth to his child - a son Yinona. The ceremony of circumsation of a boy was held on the 4th of November, 12 death anniversary of Rabin. It seems that words are superfluous.

Israel issued its own lesson from this tragedy. Counterintelligence, which through murder Rabin had a lot of issues had major changes and cleanings. And also improved the level of intelligence, because the threat still waited just outside the country, but this situation taught to look at the problem from all sides. But still it is very difficult to understand that one person can change the course of history of the country forever. However, both in bad, and in the good sense.

We often wonder – where is the real Ukrainian elite? And it's not about people who occupy certain positions or flaunt fortune, but those who would build Ukraine, using their efforts, understanding and skills?

I will answer this question. The real Ukrainian elite, whose actions highly developed Ukraine and its culture, did it again significant and principal on their land, almost all were killed in Sandarmokh, Karelia. Nearly three hundred of the best Ukrainians, including 25 - of Jewish origin. All of them were shot in 5 days. What a bloody gift for Stalinist regime at the anniversary of the October revolution - genuine revival of Ukraine. In general, from 27 October to 4 November 1937 1111 prisoners were killed. We know their names due to the desperate people who studied this issue, for example, journalist and writer Sergei Shevchenko.

On the 3d of November most famous Ukrainian figures – Les Kurbas, Mykola Zerov, Mykola Kulish, Valerian Pidmohylny, Grigory Epik, three guys from Krushelnytsky family and over a hundred of wonderful people died there. At the lists of executioners, they were listed as "Ukrainian bourgeois nationalists", therefore they were extremely dangerous for the Stalin regime. All of them had different fine talents, each was strong in his element. Les Kurbas - as the founder of the new Ukrainian theater, Mykola Zerov - as representative of the Ukrainian "neoclassic", a talented scientist, Mykola Kulish - as a playwright and activist of education, Valerian Pidmohylny – as an outstanding writer and Grigory Epik – as writer and member of the. And how many of them were just educated Ukrainians who loved their land and died, because Stalin's regime considered it a "terror"? They were young, eager, talented. I am sure they devoted all their life to the last day to their homeland and would do more if they remained alive.

And now their images watch from three-meter cross in Sandarmokh. It is a symbol of the terrible loss that undoubtedly influenced the course of history. In the decades to lose elite by the repressions and farmers by the Holodomor what worse could be done for Ukraine?

I'm sure every Ukrainian must remember this tragic episode of history and know that there were people who laid their lives for what we can now do even daily - to develop, praise and improve Ukraine. It should be the aim of life of young people and the older generation. We paid such a high price and to do nothing now - is the greatest defeat.

Yesterday at the meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine Mr Eliav Byelotserkovski I had the great honor to talk to the legendary Israeli violinist. His name is Shlomo Mintz. I was struck by the story of his, so I'll tell it to you.

Shlomo Mintz is a man,who can be called a genius of our time. He was born in Moscow in 1957, and when he was 2 years old, his family moved to Israel. The guy had been interested in music from an early age, and parents supported his talent. The future virtuoso studied from different teachers, and the most famous his mentor was an outstanding American violinist Isaac Stern, who also had Jewish origin. He made Shlomo believe in his talent and brought it to an extraordinary level.

Shlomo Mintz fastly rose at Musical Olympus. When he was 11 years he played on stage with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. When he was 16 he debuted at the world famous Carnegie Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. At 20 years old Shlomo Mintz firstly conducted a tour across Europe.

Since then, the legendary violinist acts only in the best halls of the world, with well-known orchestras and conductors. Today, at the 2 of November, he will play in Kiev, at the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater. Along with him will act "Virtuosos of Kyiv" orchestra, they will present the works of undying classics. I'm sure the audience will be amazed with this action!

Dear Ukrainians, please, value the talented people among you, and do not forget to develop your own talents. It is extremely important!

I think you all know what a Russian propaganda is. One Russian journalists called Israel «a boy from the gate», which sought for the help of «great uncles». This is how he described a Sinai campaign launched 60 years ago for the Kremlin mouthpiece - the "RIA Novosti"! Author wrote, that Israel wanted to annex the Suez Canal, such as Russia annexed the Crimea, and there is nothing in this. And, of course, remembered Georgia. He said that Israel was the first to seek help of "powerful neighbors” and Georgia was the second. What do you think of that?

How was it? Indeed, these days 60 years ago began the Sinai campaign. Israel agreed to military action, but the reason was not to conquer territory. The main goal was to destroy the army of Egypt, which sought to strike the country from the south; elimination of terrorists - fedayi that killed, robbed, raped Israelis and safely returned home. And finally - to restore access to the Straits of Tiran, which had been blocked.

The global picture at the time was: colonial system abused changes, and Israel borders with countries that were part of it - Africa and the Arab Middle East. Then Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, head of the General Staff Moshe Dayan and General Director of the Ministry of Defense Shimon Peres decided that Israel should become friendlier with France and Britain to combat the Arab terror.

Secret coalition started their plan after unilateral nationalization of the Suez Canal by Egypt. Countries invented the operation, according to which, Israel was the first to enter Egypt with the troops. Official London and Paris had to offer their help in resolving the conflict. Egypt could not accept that, so the military intervention began. David Ben-Gurion was very hesitant due to this decision. He knew the situation in the end would be decided by the USA and the USSR. The Soviet Union was interested in victory of Egypt, at the time they even supplied weapons there.

Yet it occurred. Operation was called "Kadesh." In a few days, the IDF seized Gaza, came to the Suez Canal. No one expected that from the army of Israel. In the end, under pressure from the UN General Assembly (which was affected by the United States and the Soviet Union) troops quickly withdrew. So, small young country Israel felt strong. It managed to achieve all the set goals.

Now Russian propahnada makers want to present the history of Israel as they need. This is nonsense. I'm sure Ukraine will complete its mission and stop the Russian aggression, which unfolded not only in the Crimea and eastern Ukraine, but also in people's heads. Russian propaganda machine is run for a long time, it is spreading around the world and affecting different countries. And it must beconstantly fighted. Only by doing so, having gained a comprehensive victory, the Ukrainian will get peace.
