I often emphasize that Ukraine should follow the example of Israel, particularly in the topics related to the national defense. When the enemy always watch along, you should always be on the alert. And also to have a new and ultra-moderd weapons. A have already told you about the Israeli drones and tanks, and today I want to tell you about the history of creating a fire-arm TAR-21, or "Tavor". It is just this day in 2004 it was accepted into service IDF.

By the way, there is a Ukrainian version of the rifle, entitled as "Fort 221". It’s production started back in 2009 at the "Fort" plant in Vinnytsia city, under the agreement with the Israeli company manufacturer. The weapon is produced partly from Israeli components and issued in military and civil versions. "Fort" produced by the order of special purpose units of the Security Service, the SVR, MIA and the Ukrainian army.

In 1993, IDF commanders decided to replace the old machine Galil to more modern American M16. But Israel Military Industries concern (now Israeli Weapons Industries), having learnt the needs of the Israeli army decided not to stand aside and start production of the fire-gun. Although the purchase of US weapons has already begun, the project was believed to be promising and it got support.

The riffle was named "Tabor" in honor of the eponymous mountain in northern Israel that is mentioned in the Old Testament. The main feature was that this automatic was brand new and wasn’t an upgrade of any other weapons.

Military testing of TAR-21 took place in the late 1990s and early 2000s. First sime faults were discovered, later the weapon was finalized and finally "Tabor" demonstrated its advantages of M16, it was convenient and aimed better. First, infantry brigade in the mouth "Hivati" was armed. Already in 2002 it began to be used in special operations, and for two years - was officially selected for the Israeli Defense Army.

Accordingly, the Israeli automatic displaced an American analog in the country. This is a great example if to solve the challenges faced by the country efficiently and professionally, one can not only help in protecting it, but also to build production. Ukrainians have to realize their potential and implement their ideas on modernizing weapons to help those who are fighting in Donbas. Together we are force!

Did you know that in 1964 in Kiev University was created a unique stained glass that portrayed Shevchenko? Unfortunately, none of us can see it in live. 53 years ago, it was crushed almost immediately after creation. This was personal secretary disposal of the Kiev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine Boychenko. According to legend, one of the performers was then Rector of the Kyiv University Ivan Shvets, he used hammer on colorful glass. Why did stained glass cause a concern of the Soviet elite?

The authors of artwork were artists Alla Horska (the fate of which I have already told you), Lyudmila Semykina, Opanas Zalyvakha and Halyna Sevruk. During days and nights, they worked on amazing stained glass that was used to decorate the lobby of the Kiev University. And most importantly, this work of art spoke without words. It depicted an angry Taras Shevchenko, who with one hand hugged a hurt woman -Ukraine, and the second hand was raised in height with a book. The powerful image of the poet was complemented with his words. This stained-glass window was called "Shevchenko. Mother "and dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.

"Hindsight" was convened by the Commission, which announced a work of art "ideologically erroneous". Alla Horska and Lyudmila Semykina was expelled fom the members of Union of Artists of the USSR, all the artists who participated in the creation of work -were spied. Finally, for anti-Soviet agitation Zalyvakha was sent to Mordvinic camps and Alla Horska was killed.

But art is not burning in the fire power of hatred. Photo of stained glass was published in Warsaw in the journal "Ukrainian calendar", which was published by Ukrainian socio-cultural associations, so we can see how it looked.

Today I would like to remind you of a terrible event in Israel's history. OOn this day in 2002 at the hotel "Park" in the Netanya the terrorist attack occurred, which killed 30 people. More than 140 were injured. This tragedy was the culmination of a series of attacks that "Hamas" organized in Israel.

Imagine – evening, Cedar Easter. 250 people gathered at the Hotel for a festive meal. According to the memories of witnesses, the terrorist was disguised in a woman, on the other versions - just wore the inconspicuous dressed, quietly entered the dining hall and blew himself up in the middle of it. There were injured entire families, including women, children and the elderly. The responsibility for the terrible crime was undertaken by the terrorist organizations "Hamas" and "Martyrs Brigade Al-Aqsa."

You know that the State of Israel appreciates life of every Israeli, so the organizers of the terrorist attack were punished: in January 2006, the organizer of the terrorist attacks in the hotel "Park" and shopping center "Ha-Sharon" in Netanya Abbas Al-Saeed was sentenced to 35 life hardships. Besides him, the same term is serving 5 more involved in organization of the attack.

Not only terrible grief, I would like to share with you. But also, a cautionary tale of survivors of hell. In the terrorist attack died director of hotel "Park" - 44-year-old Amir Hammam. He left six children, fortunately, in tragedy only one of them was wounded. After the explosion of the hotel from the building were left only walls. But his wife Karin after the terrible tragedy that she had to endure, took herself into hands and conducted the restoration of the hotel and started to manage it - for children. Now the hotel operates and takes guests, Karin does not allow herself to grieve even on the 27th of March, in the worst day of his life. She says that grandchildren do not have to see his grandmother in tears.

Another victim of the attack was Anna Vayshbeyn. At that time, she came to Israel from Ukraine and worked at as a waitress to earn money. After the explosion because of injuries she became disabled. But she also did not lose everything. She took up dancing professionally in wheelchairs and managed to win several awards at the European and world championships.

I wish that these stories remind you that for any black bands will be white, and the people who hurt others, sooner or later will be punished.

Eternal memory to the dead.

Today’s day, 117 years ago the outstanding Ukrainian singer Ivan Kozlovsky was born. Although he lived in Moscow the most part of his life, he always loved and appreciated his motherland. "My soul is in Ukraine" - he said. And he confirmed this in practice, recorded discs with Ukrainian songs, made performances with an orchestra of Ukrainian folk instruments, he opened a music school in his native village and every year invited children singers for a visit. He was not afraid to perform songs that his soul sang, though he could be punished for that. For example for Shevchenko’s words, "I don’t care".

Ivan Kozlovsky was born on March 24th, 1900 in the Marianivka village near Vasil'kov town. Ivan’s father was a tailor, he loved to play the accordion. The son also loved music - from birth was endowed with exceptional hearing and melodic voice. Therefore, at 8 years the boy was sent to Kyiv, where he began singing in the choir of Mikhailivskiy Zolotoverhiy Cathedral. They say that Mykola Lysenko heard him once and noted his exceptional talent.

Later he was interested in theater – when he was 15 years Ivan Kozlovsky participated in productions of the Society of Ukrainian actors as chanter. In 1917, the boy entered the Kiev’s Institute of Music and Drama. He made his debut in the theater Kozlovsky Sadowski - in the role of Andrew in the opera "Zaporozhets beyond the Dunai". In addition, Ivan sang in the choir of Alexander Kosice. Ivan’s brother Fedir together with the choir went on tour abroad, and Ivan himself did not go because he was drafted into the Red Army. The choir did not return to Ukraine, because Soviet power appeared at that time. The brothers saw each other in half a century, and because the brother did not return, Ivan was not allowed to go to tour abroad.

When the service in the army came to an end, Ivan’s voice came there again - now in Kharkov and Sverdlovsk Opera theatre and later - in USSR Bolshoy Theater. The first role for him was a small party of Fool in the opera "Boris Godunov." He made his hero from the secondary to a main character because of his voice and charisma. And now the actors around the world try to repeat his manner of representation of the image, because then he made a furor.

In 1920 Kozlovsky married the actress Alexandra Hertsyk. She perfectly played lyrical roles and was 14 years older than her lover. Their relationships ended also lyrically - after 14 years of marriage, Ivan left his wife for a young movie star - 20-year-old Galina Sergeeva. But their marriage eventually fell apart. Galina had several men and married last in her 76 years, but Kozlowski remained alone. And had many admirers and two faithful friends - secretary Nina and research assistant Olga.

In 1954 Ivan left the Bolshoy theatre, and continued to perform solo concerts. In 1970, to his anniversary Kozlovsky made a gift to himself - recorded the disc named "Ukrainian Christmas carols." But a significant part of this edition in the Ukrainian SSR was destroyed.

Ivan Kozlovsky died on December 24, 1993 of pneumonia in the Kremlin hospital. The last book he read was about Vasilkov town. Together, we have to remember that Ivan Kozlovsky - a remarkable man for Ukraine. Whatever the Russians would now assign his talent to the treasury of its history, Kozlovsky always stressed that he was - Ukrainian. This is not written in Russian biography of the singer, but we know that from the words of people close to him.

All his life Ivan Kozlovsky dreamed of spreading the Ukrainian folklore all folk songs and stories. I think the best honor his memory will be what we do every day - love and recite Ukrainian.

Today is the truly significant day - 175 years ago, was born Mykola Lysenko - Ukrainian consummate composer, founder of Ukrainian classical music.

He is the author of unsurpassed masterpieces as the opera "Taras Bulba", "Nedorosl" music anthem "Prayer for Ukraine" and "Eternal revolutionary."

Mykola was born in 1842 in the village Grinko in Poltava province in the family of a nobleman Vitaly Lysenko. The mother of Nicholas graduated from the Institute for Noble Maidens, spoke French perfectly, she taught her son to play the piano. He studied first at Kharkiv school - a privileged place. Nicholas did not stop to admire music and devoted all his spare time to improve skills in playing the piano. Soon he became well-known pianist, he was invited to play at various events. The guy even then performed not only the classics, but also improvise on the theme of Ukrainian folk songs.

After high school he entered the natural separation of Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Kharkov University, but in a a year because of financial difficulties in the family he moved to Kyiv, so Mykola was transferred to the University of Kiev. While studying, Lysenko was into the atmosphere of patriotism that prevailed at the university. He was interested in all Ukrainian, was part of the association "Kiev Community". And yet – there he has started to led his first choir. Mykola graduated from university in 1864, defended his thesis "On the chaff of reproduction of the filamentous algae." Already as a candidate of science, he has been appointed as the assistant to the conciliator at the Tarascha county. And in a year he realized that it was not his vocation. So he returned to Kyiv and became a music teacher.

Mykola Lysenko later studied at conservatories in Leipzig and St. Petersburg. Although he learned a lot, tried to dive into anything that would help his development, Lysenko was an active promoter of Ukrainians in Europe. Not surprisingly, it took quite some time, and on the 28th of December, 1867 in Prague Mykola Lysenko played an extremely successful concert. The main "highlight" of the evening were Ukrainian songs under new arrangements of Lysenko.

In a year happened another important event in his life – the wedding. Olga O'Connor was the daughter of landowners of Scots-French origin. They lived nearby, and during Lysenko’s visit in the summer to home – they got married. He took her with him to Leipzig, then - to St. Petersburg. Together the couple had lived for 12 years, but they could not have children. So they divorced, although unofficially. It is believed that the song "When the two are parted" Lysenko dedicated to his first wife.

Although the composer could stay and work abroad and became a star there, for the music world in Ukraine was less developed, Mykola Lysenko returned home. In 1880 he began to write one of his most important works - the opera "Taras Bulba." Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Peter Tchaikovsky believed that it is more than worthy and must be presented at the Imperial stage, but on one condition - "It has to be, of course, in Russian language." Lysenko did not want it and never saw the premiere of his own eyes. He even did not finish the orchestration of the work, and it was put - 44 years after writing.

Muse for further creativity of Lysenko became his second wife - Olga Lipska. She wanted to join the conservatory and wanted to learn to play the piano. And instead she found love. Mykola and Olga began to live together, she bore him five children. She died in 1900 at the birth of the last one- Taras. For Lysenko it was difficult even to adopt his own children. Since they were not married descendants were considered illegal. And his first wife have put all possible efforts, so he was able to get all rights.

In 1904 Lysenko opened in Kyiv Music and Drama School, and in 1908 founded and headed the "Ukrainian Club". He was not only Ukrainian-composer №1, lobbyist of Ukrainian culture in the world, but its central figure. His guests were Ivan Franko, Lesia Ukrainka, Michael Kotsiubynsky Mykola Sadovsky and others. Most of all Mykola Lysenko and his work suffered from censorship.

Mykola Lysenko died on the 24th of October, 1912. It was autumn, he woke up, was going to go to the music and drama school, and suddenly had a heart attack. In a half an hour he died. Maestro had not been buried for five days – so long gathered his family and friends. Great Ukrainian composer's last journey was escorted by thousands of people. Time has passed, but now in the hearts of all Ukrainian his name and works -are still known, loved and respected.

On this day in 1895 was born Lazar Weisbein, whom we know with a loud and very famous name - Leonid Utesov.

The first Ukrainian jazzman, a famous singer and a talented actor was born in Odessa. It seems that it was the place of birth that played a big role in the later life of the guy. The family was large, however, they put their son to the private commercial school Feiga. Guess who became the only student in the history of the institution's existence, who was expelled because of "freethinking behavior"? Lazar Weisbein.

Then he decided not to wait for his parents' anger and just ran off with a traveling circus, which toured throughout Ukraine. They took him because Lazar could write - other artists of the theater were illiterate, and Weisbein could design a poster. The guy quickly learned the circus secrets and became a gymnast, walked the rope under the dome without insurance. Lazar often joked that luck was on his side, because he had neither family nor wealth. But the desperate guy quickly found a bride. From a wandering life Weisbein felt ill, and in the city of Tulchin met a girl named Anna Kolba. The girl's family sheltered the actor, cured him and, of course, got used to him. Beauty had a decent dowry - 100 rubles, a cigarette case and a silver watch. Lazarus was only 15 years old, but he enchanted the girl, promised her a wedding and love for the rest of her life. On the eve of the wedding, he took one ruble seventy kopecks from a future mother-in-law and ... decided to return to Odessa. He said – for a parental blessing, but the truth was: he did not return anymore and did not answer girl’s letters anymore.

In 1912 he settled in the Kremenchug Theater of Miniatures. There he came up with his famous pseudonym. Since then, the guy was known as Leonid Utyosov. Under this name, he continued to perform in other theaters, in particular, in the Bolshoi and Maly Rishelievsky theaters in Odessa, the Kherson Theater of Miniatures, the mobile theater of miniatures "Mosaic".

Once he was resting after a performance in a cafe on Khreshchatyk street, when he saw a girl singing gypsy romances. Utesov decided to treat her and invited the beauty to join the table, although for him this act was a big exception. The girl agreed, and despite the fact that Leonid offered to choose whatever she wanted, she ordered a dish for a ruble seventy kopecks. She ate it silently, and then got up and said: "I'm Anna, your bride. You owed my parents a ruble to seventy Somehow, resting after a performance in a cafe on Khreshchatyk, he saw a girl singing gypsy romances. Utesov decided to treat her and invited the beauty to the table, although for him this act was a big exception. The girl agreed, and despite the fact that Leonid offered to choose whatever she pleased, she ordered a dish for a ruble seventy kopecks. Silently she ate, and then got up and said: "I'm Anna, your bride. You owed my parents ruble and seventy kopecks, now you paid it. "

Utesov was an Odessan heartthrob - he got acquainted with the model, who was a bride of a police bailiff. He learned about the relationship and Utesov had to flee. He moved to Kherson. There he met his future wife - Olena Goldina. She had nowhere to live, so Leonid sheltered a young woman. Soon the pair got married. Olena gave birth to Utesov’s only child - daughter Edith. The man loved her, afterwards they sang together in the orchestra of Utesov.

Olena surrounded her husband with warmth. And Leonid began to make a big success. In 1917, Utesov won first place at the contest of the couplets in Gomel, two years later - his film debut took place. And everywhere he was accompanied by confession. Among the fans of Utesov was even the famous Odessa criminal authority nicknamed "Japonchik." According to the legends, one day, when Utesov’s tailcoat was kidnapped before the performance, he came to the restaurant "Funconi", where Mishka liked to rest. He complained about the theft, and while returning to the theater, Japonchik sent there 18 tailcoats to Utesov, from which he could choose.

He brought jazz to to Ukraine after traveling to France. But already before his death he has been sorry, he did not devote his life to symphonic music.

The wife of Utesov, Olena Goldina, died at 65 years old. Despite the fact that by that time he had already had an affair with Antonina Revels for almost 40 years, this loss greatly influenced him. He did not want to go on stage, he shut himself up. Later, Edith felt seriously ill. She was diagnosed with blood cancer and a brain tumor. Unfortunately, she went to the other world before her father.

The terrible grief caused Leonid Utesov to live every day as if it was the last one. Then he offered Antonina Revels to marry after decades of secret relationships. The registry office workers came straight home to Utesov, because of his venerable age. Women rejoiced that they saw the real star with their own eyes, and did not even know that they were almost the last people who saw him alive - Leonid Utesov died a few weeks after he married for the second time.

The interesting and brightly colored life of Leonid Utesov fully corresponded to his personality. He lived, like a real Odessa, among stories that you cannot imagine, and events that you will never repeat.

Friends! On this day in 1639 was born Ivan Mazepa - Ukrainian political and military figure, Hetman of the Cossack Army. When he was hetman, Ukraine was characterized by its economic and social development, the rise of the church and religious life and culture. Despite the fact that in Soviet times Mazepa was known as a "traitor" because during the Northern War (1700-1721), he defected to the Swedish empire and betrayed the interests of Moscow, in fact, Hetman above all put Ukraine's independence.

Ivan Mazepa was born in Mazepynci (near the Bila Tserkva), came from a noble family of Mazepa Koledynskyh. From the childhood he studied military affairs, fencing. The future Hetman finished Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Subsequently Mazepa was sent to the service of King Casimir.

Ivan quickly gained confidence, he was sent to study abroad, after returning – he was sent on several diplomatic missions in Ukraine, the Ottoman Empire, Muscovy. And after Mazepa came into conflict with the Polish gentry, he lost the grace of the king and returned home.

In 1669 Mazepa went into the service of Hetman Petro Doroshenko. He was able to find the purpose of life - to serve the good of the Ukrainian state. By the way, when he married the older widow Anna Frydyrkevych. He lived with her for more than 30 years - until the end of her life, and even after death he cared of their stepchildren.

The goal was unification Hetman Cossack landsof the Left Bank, Right Bank, Zaporozhye and, at best, Slobozhanschyna, Ottoman Ukraine in a united Ukrainian state. Unfortunately, immediately to get everyone was impossible, so the first goal was to obtain the greatest possible autonomy.

Ivan Mazepa supported Ukrainian identity by all possible means. He built at the expense of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the College of Chernigov, in all Hetman - churches in the Ukrainian Baroque style. Hetman actively published works, started a real "cultural renaissance", which included not only art and architecture, but also philosophy, theology, literature and science.

In 1689 was crowned Russian Tsar Peter, Mazepa helped him in the Azov campaigns, relations with the king were friendly, until the Northern War began. Then Peter, known reformer, decided to change his approach to everything, from the army and ending with the foreign policy views. Under threat came H guaranteed autonomy for which Mazepa supported the king. Peter meanwhile put at the head of Cossack regiments Moskovian and German commanders, who morale collapsed Cossacks. Friends! The famous Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko celebrates her birthday today.

She was born on the 19th of March, 1930 in the picturesque town of Rzhyshchiv in the Kiev region in a family of teachers. Subsequently, the family moved to Kiev, where Lina finished school, after which she entered the Kiev Pedagogical Institute. Subsequently, Lina Kostenko continued her studies at the Moscow Literary Institute named after Gorky.

Kostenko became one of the most influential Ukrainian poetess of the "sixties" era. The first collection of her works was published in 1957, it was called "Rays of the Earth". Her word was strong and atypical. But also, this could not remain without the attention of the government. Because of her «apolitical view» they stopped shooting the film "Dear Winds", to which Lina Kostenko wrote the script. In 1963, her book of poems "Star Integral" was simply banned from print, and "Prince's Hill" - in 1972 from the layout.

For many years, her works were banned. But all this time she continued to be read in samizdat. Therefore, when the collection "Over the banks of the eternal river" was published, it was received very warmly. Subsequently, a famous novel was published in the verses "Marusiya Churai", for which Lina Kostenko in 1987 received the State Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko.

But only a desperate man could decide to speak in public with her works. This one was the Ukrainian actress Neil Kryukova. She read "Marusya Churai" in the Kyiv Philharmonic, when the police appeared and tried to stop the actress. Lina Kostenko then stood up and slapped the director of the philharmony. She was always strong, honest and fair. It was not just a gesture - it was a symbol of the attitude to the whole system.

Lina Kostenko was always principled. She herself left the Writers' Union, refused of the title of Hero of Ukraine, which President Viktor Yushchenko wanted to give her. He came to her home on her birthday with a reward. But Kostenko did not even look at it. She said: "I do not wear political jewelry."

Friends, let us in this day in comments share the favorite poems of this talented Ukrainian writer. And all together, we will thank her for her invaluable contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature. Long life!

Why is this book unique? First, it is on Ukrainian. Second, for writing authors took information from all possible sources, access to which has provided the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. Thirdly, the first edition copies university can receive for free.

I am happy to have had a hand in publishing this highly desired publication. I think the actual understanding of history and the realities of Israeli by the youth will not only deepen their knowledge but will also help to apply the studied facts in practice in the future.

Yesterday we celebrated Purim - one of the most cheerful Jewish holidays.

I am very grateful to the honorable guests who attended the event, arranged on my initiative, and wholeheartedly congratulated all those present. This is the Minister of Aliyah and Absorption of the State of Israel Sofa Landver, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Eliav Belotserkovsky, the Chairman of the Ukraine-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group Georgy Logvinsky, the Chief Rabbi of Kiev Jonathan Markovich, the Deputies of Ukraine, Jewish communities members and organizations.

Purim feast is very symbolic, because it embodies the fact that hope and faith in a brighter future conquers dark forces, repeatedly willing to destroy Jews. But thanks to faith and unity, the people always won. History has proven this. Jews carried their faith, culture, traditions and language through the ages and passed on to their descendants.

Now, faith and hope are necessary for both Jews and Ukrainian as never before. I am sure that we will defeat our enemies and our countries will have a peaceful sky again.

Friends! Once again I thank everyone who came to the party. Till next time!

Friends! Today I would like to tell you a story of success. It is about the Israeli company Mobileye. The day before it was acquired by the world-famous American corporation Intel for a record for Israeli high-tech sector amount - more than $ 15 billion.

The company was founded in 1999 in Jerusalem. It is developing sensors, front cameras and rear view for the autopilot. Among its customers there are 27 global automakers, including Audi, BMW, Tesla and others.

Why did Intel lay the money on technology Mobileye? The company has managed to invent a special software for processing data, collected from sensors, installed on cars and cameras, and used them to prevent accidents and to promote the development of the driver. The main element was the "smart" camera, which determined the distance to objects on the road, following the layout and make recommendations for preventing collisions.

In Intel they told – Mobileye will be used to create an unmanned vehicle. They say by this step they gave built into cars "smart brain". After the agreement with the Israeli company it will become the part of a group of autonomous driving, which will be based in Israel and will be headed Amnon Shashnua.

Friends, what did I managed to tell you through this story? First, the future has come. Second, the main thing that is truly needed by the world - is the latest technologies. As you see, for it could be paied incredible money. In Ukraine, as well as in Israel, there is a huge potential to create such technologies. So, any startups and innovation must be supported and developed.

I was brought to the weak-willed unconsciousness, and I was forced to confess under dictation to nonexistent crimes, "- he wrote.

Today, Jews around the world celebrate Purim - a holiday in memory of the miraculous escape of Jews at the time of the Persian king Ahasuerus (5 century BC) The name of the holiday comes from the word "Pur", which means "lots".

In the Book of Esther narrated the history of this holiday. Once the king Ahasuerus held a great feast, he wanted to boast of the beauty of his wife Vashti. But she refused to go to the guests, who incredibly offended ruler.

Then to his palace was brought a lot of beautiful girls, so he chose another wife. He liked Esther, the Jewish girl, an orphan. She grew up with a cousin - Mordecai. Esther became queen, but didn’t tell Ahasuerus about her origins.

Instead, Ahasuerus appointed as his adviser person, that hated Jews - Haman. Everyone was feared of him, except Mordecai. He never bowed before him for that Haman decided to punish not only the rebellious man, but all Jews. He casted lots to determine when to physically exterminate Jews. It was the 13th day of the month Adar. And Mordecai learned of his plan and told Esther.

It is, despite the ban to come to the king without an invitation that threatened her with death, she wentto talk. Invited ruler with Haman to the feast. She told Ahasuerus about her origins and the threat under which the whole Jewish people came and asked him not to kill anyone. King fulfilled her wish and ordered the execute Haman. Ironically, on the very gallows that Haman has prepared for the brother of the queen.

The king issued a special decree by which all the Jews of Persia had to defend his life. Adar 13, the day that Haman choosed the day of the death of Jews, they killed thousands of haters. The next day - celebrated their salvation.

And now Purim is one of the most important holidays of the year. For two days, made merry feasts, carnivals and masquerades. Traditionally, people prepare a special dish - "ears of Haman" - triangular cakes with jam. All lots of wine, so they cannot distinguish the names of Haman and Mordecai.

Friends! This once again proves that it is not necessary to give up ever, salvation will come and we should believe in that and fight for it. I wish you all joy and happiness in this festive day!

Today I want to tell you about the terrible tragedy that occurred in Israel on the 11th of March, 1978. In the history, the events of the day came as the Coastal Road massacre in which were killed 39 Israelis (13 of them - children) another 70 were injured.

What happened on that terrible day? 13 militants of Fatah were planning a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. They had reached the city by sea in rubber boats. But they failed to comply route. Two terrorists were drowned in the sea, eleven went ashore near Zichron Yakov. Group was managed by a of nineteen-year-old Dalal al-Mugrabi.

At first, terrorists met the photographer - American Gail Rubin. She loved landscape photography, made shots when a fateful meeting occured. Militants questioned the woman about the location and shot her. One of the terrorists of Fatah later said the cause was a visa. Gail said that she received it from the government of Israel, Dalal said that she had to ask her about it, because the land – is hers, not Israelis.

After that killing terrorists divided. Some - took the bus, others - taxi. The bus was full of tourists, they returned from the tour of workers of the cooperative "Egged". For the first time they were able to get acquainted closer with colleagues and to their families in an informal trip to stalactite caves.

The ultimate goal of the militants was a hotel in Tel Aviv. Subsequently, the two groups merged in the bus where they were holding hostages. Along the way, the terrorists fired cars that drove past.

Finally, Israeli security forces managed to stop the bus, they shot its wheels. One of the drivers from the cooperative "Egged" volunteered as the mediate because he knew Arabic. But when he went to the border to security forces, militants shot him in the stomach. He died in hospital.

The negotiations were disrupted, passengers fell into despair and tried to escape. Then the terrorists opened fire on unarmed people .. And finally - blew up a bus.

9 militants were eliminated, among them - Dalal al-Mugrabi. Two were captured alive. They were exchanged after seven years' of imprisonment in an Israeli prison. One of them later became a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah. Palestinians made a real icon from Dalal. In her honor named streets, military and police schools, camps and school. It seems thatthere is nothing to add.

Israel remembers the terrible grief. Even the terrible bus survived until now - he is in the Museum of buses in Holon. Because there is tragedy, along with the most tragic scenario that movie – is nothing. For this is reality.

Eternal memory to the fallen.

On this day in 1787 was born Ustym Karmalyuk - Ukrainian legend, our "Robin Hood" - a noble thief and a national hero. Stories about him were collected by Mykola Kostomarov and Taras Shevchenko, he even was dedicated the opera. Who was he, a living legend?

Ustym Yakymovych Karmalyuk was born in the village Holovchyntsi (now the village Karmalyukove in Vinnytsia region). His parents were peasants, serfs of the local landowner Andrew Joseph Pihlovsky. Ustym has been rebellious since childhood, for the rebel character he was arrested at the master's economy. Then, in 1811, he first escaped from custody. The landowner could not accept the fact that his slave had such character, so he decided to give a guy to the royal army - for 25 years. From there he fled almost immediately and decided to return to his native land and restore order there.

Karmalyuk gathered with the same wayward and brave men like himself and burned mansion of the landowner Pihlovsky. His property he gave to farmers. Ustym was quickly caught by the punitive squad members. He was sentenced to 500 strokes of the rod and detention in the Crimea. But Karmalyuk fled once again. Then he started a real rebel peasant movement in the Ukrainian lands. Peasant riots broke out in different cities. Ordinary people supported Karmaluk, offered him assistance and food. Interesting fact - the movement of Karmalyuk was joined not only by Ukrainian, but also by Poles and Jews. Some of them were his closest aides, never betrayed Ustym. For that they were tortured and deported to Siberia. Karmalyuk because of such a friendship knew not only Russian, but also Polish and Yiddish.

In 1817, Moscow finally caught Karmalyuk, he was sentenced to death. But at the last moment sentence was changed into 25 lashes, branding with a hot iron, and a 10-year of exile in Siberia. But Karmalyuk .. escaped from prison once again and continued his work. Karmalyuk was extremely popular, he was joined by new supporters. It was difficult for his family: Ustym was twice married. Evdokia – his first wife died, leaved him two children. Second wife was Mary, she gave birth to three more. The smallest son Ostap gave up his father when he was caught again. Ustym tried to impersonate a Russian in prison, when the son ran into his arms. Karmalyuk was thrown in Kamenetz-Podolsk fortress ... but he organized his fourth escape together with other prisoners! He was wounded and chained to a stone pillar in the tower, which was later named in his honor.

Subsequently Karmalyuk was sent to Siberia, then - to Tobolsk. Ustym fled again - in the fall, during a night storm, he broke the bars, gathered all the inmates shirts and tied them into a long panel. By the end, he threw it at the fence of the prison. After that all the prisoners escaped, leaving an empty cell.

He always came back to continue his struggle. Once Karmalyuk took gold from the master-extortionist and began to give it to the poor women who were walking nearby. In parting, he said: "Take your gold, let your children at home stop crying... And when I’ll die, remember Karmalyuk ...".

He was a true historical superhero, elusive avenger for the life he has several times been jailed and fled - so strong was his desire to fight.

Ustym Karmalyuk died on the night of the 10th of October, 1835 in the village Track Korychentsi. He was betrayed. Karmalyuk was killed. According to legend Karmalyuk was not killed by a bullet, but with silver buttos, because it was the only way to kill the sorcerer (otherwise people could not explain his escapes and wins). Body of Ustym was drove by the villages to make farmers afraid. Hero was buried in Letechev, and Moscow Tsar Nicholas I personally called killer of the Karmalyuk to St. Petersburg, to reward him with the diamond ring.

Perhaps the years have passed, the story has become more a legend and is not similar to a simple biography. But most importantly, what we can learn from it - truly courageous spirit never dies, regardless of any obstacles.

The 9th of March 9, 1814 - the date that is well-known by all Ukrainians. On this day was born Taras Shevchenko - the most famous Ukrainian poet and national hero and symbol of Ukraine.

I think all of you know his biography and I won’t surprise you with interesting facts of his life. So today we should not talk about how Taras Shevchenko lived, but about the memory that he left.

It would seem, more than two centuries passed, but the things that he wrote is still relevant.

Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine remains a symbol and its struggle. His "Fight and you’ll overcome, God helps you" – became the slogan undying Ukrainian people. Young people are still hardening around his figure. Today only Shevchenko Park, near the monument to Taras gathered hundreds people. And it is - just the beginning! At 16.00 they will simultaneously read out the poem "in the dungeons" (I am the same, or will ...). Along with Kyiv, this verse will be heard in other parts of Ukraine and the world. This - the final event of the flashmob «Global Shevchenko», which has become really international. Before the birthday of the poet more than 3,500 participants from 25 countries and 132 settlements of Ukraine made a picture next to the monument to Shevchenko in their city. Even in the occupied Crimea, despite the ban of the birthday of Taras, there were people who came to lay flowers at the monument to Kobzar in Simferopol. And this despite the fact that police photographed them all.

Friends, this activity proves once again – Ukrainian is strong nation that remembers its history and heroes. Let us now recall in the comments the quotes and poems of Taras, which are the most "catchy" for you.

I sincerely want to congratulate all my readers with the International Women's Day.

The world started to celebrate it in 1977 - when a special UN resolution called on all countries to declare the 8th of March the Day of struggle for women's rights. First a women worker’s strike took place on the 8th of March, 1857 in New York. Women demanded the same wages as men.And also - 10-hour working day and normal working conditions. The second wave of the struggle for women's rights began in the late 19th century in England, it was the so-called movement of suffragettes.

Despite the fact that the Institute of National Remembrance believe that within decommunisation this holiday has to be canceled as a relic of the Soviet Union, many Ukrainians believe that the 8th of March now regains its fight-for-rights character and allows women to go out today to protest. Today they are hold in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and some other cities. Also, there will be a number of art events and public discussions. In Kyiv march will be held under the slogan of struggle against violence against women by the state.

Friends! On this day, I want to express my admiration and respect for all women. You are strong, purposeful, sometimes more desperate and determined than men. I would like to separately thank those women, who are now serving in the area of ATO. I wish you strength, goodness, light and harmony!

Today is 85th birthday of Vladimir Dakhno, known Ukrainian artist-animator, "father" of the cartoon "How the Cossacks .."

Vladimir Avksentiyovych was born in Zaporizhya in 1932. His father was a colonel, mother - librarian. She taught the boy to love books. He studied well and at first wanted to become a doctor, but later transferred to the Kiev Institute of Civil Engineering to the Faculty of Architecture. Dakhno’s classmate mentioned that he often painted Cossacks and their funny adventures. Once he even put the picture into projector to entertain students.

Than Vladimir began to work on his specialty – as the architect. But his unusual approach to work attracted the attention of known animators Mark Draytsun and David Cherkassky, who also graduated from Kyiv Engineering and Construction Institute. They invited Dakhno to work in new creative association of animated films at the studio "Kievnauchfilm" (now "Ukranimafilm").

There he drew his first cartoon - "Adventure of the pepper." Later he created his most famous animated series "How the Cossacks .." was its director and screenwriter.

The legendary animated series, by the way, could be called simply - "Three Cossacks." For the author, this was a familiar theme, because he was from Zaporizhya. But the State Committee for Cinematography planted the idea to pick a more interesting name. A week later, he invented it. So, the first cartoon series "How the Cossacks were cooking kulish" was released in 1967. I think each of you know the main characters. They are three Cossacks: Play, Eye and Tour, although they are not named at the film. Dakhno was able to portray characters in the authentic Ukrainian nature, so that the characters became recognizable worldwide. Various series of "How the Cossacks .." received international awards in Yerevan and Switzerland.

I'll tell you some interesting facts about the cartoon "How the Cossacks played football." Ironically, but it Vladimir has provided the composition of the "Ukrainian" group at Euro 2012, described its first opponents and schedule of performances. However, due was not interpret. In addition, goalkeeper of the "Dynamo" Viktor Bannikov said that after the cartoon "blue-white" was traditionally watching it before the game, as a sign of "success".

In general Vladimir Dakhno made 23 films, nine of which were about the adventures of the Cossacks. And it was he who was the author of the first Ukrainian full-length animated film - the legendary "Aeneid", published in 1991.

Unfortunately, along with the success, the personal life of Vladimir was difficult. He married at the age of 42 years and after eight years - divorced. In marriage was born his only and beloved daughter - Natalia.

Vladimir Avksentiyovych dreamed all his life. He wanted to make a series of books about the Cossacks, prepared the sequel of cartoon. Most of all he was concerned of the fate of the Ukrainian film industry. "For days, I sit and watched TV - Dakhno said in a recent interview. - Waited until the movie. Ukrainian animation industry does not exist. Animation can be lift only by the patrons. Patrons are not. There are several studies that interrupted advertising ... Frankly, I'm now very difficult. But over time, I think everything will take its placse. Although neither I nor you will see it. "

On this day in 1954 in the village of Mougins in the south of France died first Ukrainian prime minister, a writer, a talented artist Vladimir Vinnichenko. He was one of the most interesting figures in Ukrainian history. Contradictory and controversial leader, who above all wanted to be beneficial to his nation and "to glorify Ukrainian by himself."

Vladimir was born in Elisavetgrad. His father Cyril worked on master's savings, his mother kept the inn. She had three other children from a previous marriage, but paid to Vladimir the most attention – he was favorite son. Many moments from his childhood Vladimir later described in his famous story "Fyodor-halamydnyk", and also the protagonist of many features reminiscent of the author.

Vladimir began to read early, and in public schools he showed remarkable aptitude for learning. And although the financial situation was extremely difficult for his parents, the boy still was sent to higher school. There Vynnychenko were often mocked because of his origin and pronunciation. On the lessons, he could came in embroidery and block Straw, replied in Ukrainian, while the studying was conducted in Russian. Deep resentment at bad impact had the perception of his behavior, he began to test all possible means, battled with students quarreled with teachers. Later, even joined the revolutionary organization in high school, wrote a poem for which for a week he has been prisoned into the "cooler" and finally was expelled.

And capable guy did not abandon teaching. Got matriculation in Zlatopilskiy gymnasium. In 1901 he entered the Kiev University of St. Vladimir's law faculty, where his revolutionary activities reached a new milestone. He was a revolutionary until 1917 and there were - the arrest, expulsion from the university, the action again arrests, imprisonment, emigration ..

The first story was "Power and Beauty" published in 1902 in the journal "Kievan Past." He continued to write abroad, together with Mikhail Hrushevsky published magazine "Ray." After the February Revolution of 1917 he returned to Ukraine to start building the state. He became a member of the Central Council, was the author of all major policy documents, initiated the adoption of the historical IV Universal of Ukraine's independence in January 1918. And soon the first Ukrainian Prime Minister with all the UNR government was forced to flee. First - to Zhitomir, then - to Berdyansk. During Hetmanat Vinnichenko lived on a farm in Princes Hill on Kanivschyna, where he wrote one of his most famous plays - "Between the two forces." And Hetman guard did not let him live in peace, soon Vinnichenko was detained "for the preparation of a coup." But released. Then Vladimir began again to fight for the Ukrainian state, headed the Ukrainian National Union, insisted on the restoration of UNR and creation of Directory, which he headed. But the dispute with Simon Petlyura forced Vinnichenko to emigrate.

In exile, he wrote another prominent work - "Revival of the Nation", where he tried to put all the details of his historical experiences drink down. And yet there can be seen the special features of the revolutions in Ukraine. By the way, Vladimir Vinnichenko is the author of the famous statement that "Russian democrat ends where begins Ukrainian question."

Over 32 years of exile, he managed to write many outstanding works, refuse to cooperate with the Nazis, to be thrown into a concentration camp, begin to paint.

And that will never take awayfrom Vinnichenko - he was always himself. He waited too long to meet the love of his life. And finally found it - Rosalie Livshits, a woman with whom he was not even officially married, because he considered that outdated. The woman, with whom they lived in 40 years in free and harmonious relationship, even as it condemned others. He manipulated many others who fell in love with him and demanded the same in return.

Friends! On this day in 1949 was born gorgeous Ukrainian composer and singer Vlodymyr Ivasjuk. His "Red Rue" is the visiting card of Ukraine in the world. His words flowed like the rays of the sun, warming the souls of listeners. He lived only 30 years, but created immortal hits that today we like to sing forever.

Ivasjuk was born in Chernivtsi region in Kitsman in a family of teachers Michael and Sophia Ivasyuk. He loved music since childhood, curiously watched the rehearsals of the Teachers Choir, which often took his parents. The music fascinated the boy, so at the age of 6 he joined the preparatory class of the Chernivtsi musical school, where he began to learn how to play the violin. Vladimir was a real talent. He was even sent to study at the Kiev music school, but Ivasjuk did not stand the burden and move back to Kitsman.

In 1964 Ivasjuk created a school ensemble «Bukovinka," for which he wrote his first song "Lullaby." The team became known, won several competitions. Vladimir Ivasjuk continued to improve author's talent and was looking for inspiration everywhere. He traveled and studied Ukrainian songs, recorded them. Vladimir perfectly studied, claimed the gold medal, and suddenly had a case. Ivasjuk walked through the park with friends when one of the boys threw the cap on a bust of Lenin. They all began to scramble to shoot it - and knocked plaster "leader". They were taken to the police and it opened the case. But the family was able to stand up for it.

The institute learned of his case and ruled guy. And Vladimir again did not broke down, he went to work as a mechanic at the plant "Legmash." He created a choir there, wrote songs for it. Once ventured, under the name Spring he sent his song to the contest for the 50th Anniversary of October and won first prize. Soon the second victory came – with the help of the the recommendation from plant Ivasjuk still enrolled in medical school. There he wrote his hits.

First "Red Rue" was performed on the 13th of September, 1970 at the Theatre Square Chernivtsi. It was a resounding success and triumph. Subsequently, the film "Red Rue"appeared and more ..

In 1972 Ivasjuk moved to the city. He continued to write songs and to learnt to be a doctor. Soon his song "The Ballad of two violins" was sang by the young singer Sofia Rotaru, who later first performed the song at the international competition - "Sopot". For this he had the opportunity to receive the Shevchenko Prize, but it just struck out of the list of nominees. And then burned and scenery for the play ... In spite of everything, he continued to work. I think you understand what person he was. Ivasjuk always knew that after defeat would be a victory.

And suddenly he was gone. On 18th of May, 1979 Vladimir Ivasyuk’s body was found in a military zone in Bryukhovychi forest. Suspended. Investigators decided – it was a suicide, that way they immediately offset the person of Ivasyuka, sincere and talented Ukrainian.

Friends!

Today I presented a lecture at the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. The theme of the lecture was "Peculiarities of doing business in Israel," but I was able to reach a much broader layer of information and tell the students about the reasons, why they need to learn successfully and to show how sincere love to their country can lead it to success.

Most importantly, I wanted to convey to the students that impossible does not exist. People just don’t need to whine and say, that there is the war of the country, there is no opportunity for the personal development or development of the country. Because it is not true, and Israel is the main proof of that. A country that since its creation has been in the permanent war, was able to reach the heights. And most interestingly, in the same areas where the resounding success and could be reach in Ukraine: agriculture, defense, high technology. You just have to make the effort.

Students, like anyone, should understand this. Because they will change the country if they will realize that everything is in their hands. I have brought many interesting examples of how in any field they can start their own business. That they just need to improve their knowledge every day for, because the world need bright minds and latest technologies. In order to be able to develop their skills and reach the heights of the profession in Ukraine, they need to love it. Understand the value of service in the army, value every human life, renounce corruption even in the smallest of its forms, pay taxes. Honesty, integrity and fairness - the are main tenets of which should serve young Ukrainians.

Friends, I am sure that Ukraine is waiting for a bright future - this is the conclusion I made from my communication with students. We have to explain their role to the youth in every occasion. Then success just around the corner.

Today it’s the 95th birthday of Yitzhak Rabin, a prominent Israeli politician, who was twice prime minister and even gainedthe Nobel Peace Prize.

Father of Yitzhak Rabin was Nehemiya Rabichov. He was born in the village Sydorovychy in Kiev. When he was a child, his father died, so the family lived in a quandary. When Nehemiy was 14, he started to work at the bakery, and later joined the Socialist Revolutionary Party, after that he came under threat of arrest. He was forced to flee and moved to the United States. He had no friends there, nor support. He wandered through the country, worked wherever there was work until he settled in Chicago. There he became a member of the Zionist-Socialist party "Poale Zion". Then he decided to take part in the hostilities in the Middle East Front of World War I as part of the American forces. But he was not accepted because there flat. Then Nehemiya changed his surname to "Rabin" and tried again. This time it worked. He did not want to return to America so, after service he moved to Haifa where he met with the mother of Isaac and his future wife, Rosa Cohen. Together they were part of Haganah - underground military organization that later became the IDF. It was Rose, incidentally, who was the first female leader of this military underground.

Isaac was born on the 1st of March, 1922 in Jerusalem. He graduated from agricultural school "Cadours." There he met with Yigal Alon, the future head of Palmach – Haganah special unit. At the afe of 19 Yitzhak Rabin voluntarily went to serve to its ranks.

In 1944, as deputy commander of the battalion Palmach, he participated in the fights against the mandate of the regime. Two years later he was arrested, he spent six months in a British concentration camp in Rafa. After his release, he continued to serve in Palmach, participated in the War of Independence, led the forces that played an important role in the battle for Jerusalem. In 1964, Rabin became head of the General Staff, under his leadership Israel won the Six Day War.

His military career was long, there were many different operations. After its completion in 1968, Yitzhak was appointed as the ambassador to the United States. After 5 years, he returned and became the Minister of Labour. For a short time, he became prime minister. His cadence lasted three years. His wife Leah had a bank account in the US, and the Israeli law did not allow that. Imagine! Only an account caused a scandal. Then Rabin took responsibility and resigned.

And then he again became minister, this time - defense in the government of Shimon Peres. At first, he was a supporter of harsh methods to resolve the conflict with the Palestinians, and eventually he started to believe that the solution lies in a peaceful plane. This has resulted in significant advances in the international arena, which Rabin has reached as prime minister. For that he received the Nobel Peace Prize - along with Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat.

But the peace did not help Yitzhak. Accords with the Palestinians did not end conflict, by contrast, it led to a new surge of terror when in two years were killed over a hundred thousand of Israelis. Since that time, Yitzhak Rabin for some has become the personification of peace, for others - a traitor. But he did not abandon his convictions and died after a rally in their support in Tel Aviv. He was killed by the extremist Yigal Amir. About this tragic event I have told you before.

Israel remembers its prominent figure, because in spite of everything, on the first-place Rabin always put the interests of Israel. Therefore, the area where Yitzhak Rabin was killed, bears his name. By the way, one of the streets of Odessa is also named in his honor.
