Friends!



Friends! Today Ukraine bids farewell to poet Boris Oliynyk. He died on the 30th of April on the 82d year life after a long illness. Yet has finished the farewell ceremony with the poet in the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers, after which he was buried at the cemetery Baikove.

"I have been so proud that Ukrainian naturally ..." - this was the position of Borys Oliynyk. In life, he managed to write a lot of great works, his "Song of the mother" is imprinted on the heart of every Ukrainian. Borys Oliynyk was controversial as the time in which he lived, but communist political views coexisted in his personality along with the fact that it Oliynyk has made many efforts to the adoption of the law on the state language and other acts that helped assert Ukrainian statehood.

Borys Oliynyk was born in the village Zachepilovka on the 22d of October, 1935. He always liked to write, started to publish hos works at school and later learned to be a journalist in Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University.

He worked in various magazines, first as a journalist and later became the editor. He headed the Union of Writers of Ukraine and was proud that during his presidency, none of the writers was expelled from its ranks or thrown behind bars.

He was a man with an active civil position, always raised in the press about important topics. For example, in relation to criminal activity in Chernobyl that caused the accident or the Holodomor of 1932-1933 which he directly announced during a speech in the Kremlin in 1988.

He was a famous poet and academician, a man worth mentioning today with a kind word and conduct the funeral.
