Oleg Vyshniakov - Ukraine and Israel. Israel became member of UN "space club".

Good afternoon!

Today I want to share with you exciting news: Not so long ago, Israel became a full member of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).

Membership of Israel in such an authoritative international organization was supported by representatives of 117 countries of the world. Israel will be able to continue the development and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, with the support of the international community.

Let me remind you that Israel, like Ukraine, is a space power and one of the twenty states that have their own space rocket technology.

Back in 2001, the Presidents of Ukraine and Israel signed an agreement on cooperation in outer space exploration. Today experts of the two countries actively cooperate in joint projects, exchange equipment and technical information.

Earlier, both countries have worked with COPUOS. Being a full member of the organization since 1992, Ukraine actively supports the UN activities on the use of space-based information for disaster prevention and disaster control.

Within its work with COPUOS, Israel is planning to use its Eros-A and Eros-B satellites for satellite photography of natural disaster zones, to participate in projects on prevention the fall of the asteroids to the Earth.

In my opinion, the most important thing in such cooperation is that both states focus their efforts on maintaining peace on the planet. An example of such peaceful cooperation is also the work of the International Space Station. On November 2, 2015 it turned 15 years since the first international crew, consisting of the US astronaut William Shepherd and Russians Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev came to the station. By that date, NASA released the best 15 pictures that were taken on the board of the ISS.

You all remember that the history of space exploration was not always associated with the peaceful use of it. However, mankind is still learning from its own mistakes, we understand that we live in one world and are obliged to protect it.

Look how beautiful and delicate our planet looks from the space!
