Literally for some decades computers have become from giant, heavy boxes, attached to a socket into thin and light mobile devices. Nano-bots and micro-robots, glasses for the blind and a car with the autopilot, flying missile “backpack”, running shoes on batteries and electronic pets with artificial intelligence – the things which were used to be a subject for the Hollywood movies and science fiction writers are becoming everyday reality.
Sooner rather than later gadgets will be embedded directly into a human, and the first signs of such development are already there.
A group of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Microsoft Research division has developed a technology to create a new generation of flash tattoos, which are also innovative interfaces. The technology is called DuoSkin. This tattoo looks as a fashion metal pattern, which allows you to turn a part of your skin like the keyboard. Also this wonderful pattern can serve as a display, which will change colors depending on the temperature of the body and share data with other gadgets, including making contactless payments.
One of the main advantages of the development is low cost manufacture. Given the speed of propagation of innovations in the modern world, I am sure that it will take very little time and such a “tattoo-gadget” will adorn many hands throughout the world.
