Yesterday the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted two historical resolutions on Ukraine.

These documents finally called everything that happens in our country by its names. First, they were not talking about "the conflict in Ukraine," but about "Russian aggression in Ukraine." This is an answer to those who still speaks of some "civil conflict" and does not want to see the real thing.

In addition, PACE recognizes the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the Russian military intervention in Eastern Ukraine and calls them a violation of international law. In one of the resolutions they even changed the theme from "The consequences of the crisis in Ukraine" to "The consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine." Despite the invasion of Russian propaganda, even those MEPs who usually takes the side of Russia this time understood and agreed - that it provoked hostilities in Ukraine, and still supports the separatists and conducts illegal actions on the territory of a sovereign state.

Besides, the PACE recognized that self-proclaimed "DPR" and "LPR" are created and supported by Russia, and all its"officials" are also governed by Russia. So the self-proclaimed countries have no legitimacy.

The Parliamentary Assembly supported the continuation of sanctions against Russia until the complete removal of troops from Ukraine and the restoration of the sovereignty of our country. Once again the organization condemned the illegal elections in the Crimea, Russian Majlis ban, illegal detention of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia, etc.

Also, for the first time, PACE told about the impossibility of holding elections in the Donbass, which Russia strongly argues in Minsk. According to Christina Zelenkova and Mariluyiz Beck, who did report on Ukraine, in case that safety of voters areas outside the controled territory can not be guaranteed, there can be no elections in Donbas.

The "highlight" of PACE meeting was the refusal to allow Russian representatives to take part in the work of the Assembly.

I believe that the adoption of these resolutions will open the way for Ukraine to review existing and arrange new, more effective agreements. In particular, they can influence the course of Minsk agreements by proving that items, lobbied by Russia, in fact - are nonsense.

I am grateful to Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for the excellent work done!
