Friends!

Friends! Today is the day of memory of Nazariy Yaremchuk. On this day in 1995, at the age of 43, this talented actor died of stomach cancer.

Nazariy Yaremchuk was born in the district of Rivne (now Vizhnitsa) on the 30th of November, 1951. His parents were ordinary peasants, the boy had two brothers and a sister. Parents loved music very much - his father was a tenor in the church choir, mother performed in a local theater. When Nazariy was born, his father was 64 years old. Dad died when the boy was 12. This was a huge tragedy for the family. Mother was forced to give Nazariy to Vyzhnitsa boarding school. But he was very smart and diligent, sang in the choir. After completing the study, he wanted to become a geographer and filed papers at the Chernivtsi University, but did not go through the competition.

Only with the second attempt in 1970, when he became a singer of "Smerichki" by Levko Dutkovsky, Nazariy managed to enter the university. He became the part of ensemble by chance - left to listen to its rehearsal in the house of culture. Then Dutkovsky invited the guest to sing a song. He performed "Kokhana" by Igor Putka so mentally that the head of "Smerichka" invited him to sing in the ensemble.

One of the most important acquaintances in the life of Nazariy - with composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk. He sang his "Chervona Ruta", in the summer of 1971 took part in the filming of a single-named film. It made the soloists Nazariy Yaremchuk and Vasyl Zinkevich famous, they were loved by all. But along with recognition, sorrow came - at that time Mother of Nazariy died.

In 1972, the composer Levko Dutkovsky introduced Nazariy to his first futurewife, Olena Shevchenko. Then she was invited to become a soloist of VIA "Smerichka". Olena later said: "It was love at first sight." Three years later, couple got married. Marriage was registered on the 1st of January, for the sake of this, even the village chairman agreed to go to work on New Year's Day - he liked the creativity of Yaremchuk. A year later, the young couple had the first son, who was called Dmitry, almost a year later was born second son Nazariy. In marriage Nazariy and Olena lived 15 years. Suddenly - divorced. It became a tragedy for children and shock for loved ones. Olena got married for a second time and moved to Kiev, and Nazariy stayed in Chernivtsi.

In 1975, the legendary duo Yaremchuk and Zinkevich also collapsed. Zinkevich went to sing in Svitazi in Lutsk, and Yaremchuk remained in "Smerichka".

In 1979, during the funeral of Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Nazariy Yaremchuk came to Lviv. He went on the head of the mourning column, along with Levko Dutkovsky borrowed a wreath of white flowers. Although it could cost him a career and even life. But the true friendship that was between these men was worth the victims.

Nazariy Yaremchuk was a brave man at all. In 1986, after the Chernobyl disaster, the singer had visited the 30-kilometer alienation area for three times to sing for the liquidators of the accident. Famous Ukrainian singer Dmytro Hnatyuk said: "I was attracted to Nazariy because of the fact that he was always a conscious citizen and a great patriot of our state, he had a clear position in the pop song. He correctly served domestic art and culture. Each artist has his creative image. He had his own, special manner. He never went beyond the beauty that is in the pop singer. The real was the artist, because he never had any cheap successes. "

In 1987, Nazariy Yaremchuk was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. He was really popular - his was loved by the audience, and the singer did everything to develop Ukrainian music, searched for new talents, supported many young performers.

Soon came the second wedding of Yaremchuk. His second wife, Darya, was a neighbor, raised her daughter after her husband's death. The couple married in 1991, in the church of John the Baptist in Kosiv. Two years later, their daughter was born, who was named after the mother of Nazariy - Marichka.

And it would seem that now life should be quite happy: a lovely family, successful work .. But the terrible news appeared: Yaremchuk had cancer. He went abroad for the operation, but it was too late. Nazari returned and continued to speak. Live, like all my life.

On the 30th of June, 1995, Nazariy Yaremchuk died in Chernivtsi. He was buried a in the city's central cemetery.

"The song for me is all. It is the expression of human feelings. Without a song, I cannot imagine my life. All is permeated with this feeling: my family, friends, colleagues in work, creativity ... I want to sing beautiful songs that fall into the soul, in memory of the heart, carry good thoughts, enchant the beauty of melodies”, - Nazariy Yaremchuk said. His voice will remain forever in the hearts of Ukrainians. So, let's share your favorite songs of Nazarii Yare

Friends! These days, the Minister of Education of Ukraine Lilia Grinevich visited Israel to seek the latest methods of Israeli education, ways of integrating children with special needs and capable children, innovations and startups in education. A series of meetings with Israeli education and science specialists was organized for this purpose. I am pleased to be a part of the delegation and to take part in such extremely important events.

On the first day of the visit, Mrs. Grinevich visited one of Tel-Aviv schools - "ORT Singalovsky", where advanced approaches of learning were applied. Representatives of the school administration introduced the Minister of Education of Ukraine with their methods that helped to develop the children's creative abilities and, in general, revealed their potential.

Mrs. Grinevich had a conversation with her colleague - Minister of Education of Israel, Naftali Bennett. He said that the distinctive feature of Israeli education is that it is "informal" and focuses on raising children's responsibility. For example, an important role is played by teenage movements. So, the minister himself, at the age of 15, has already led large groups of peers to campaigns, took responsibility for their welfare. Also, the army plays an important role, after it the Israeli man is formed as a person who is sure that everything is in his force. And this confidence in its turn is the basis for the creation of unique technologies and inventions.

In addition, along with representatives from the Israeli Ministry of Education, we discussed such important issues as the integration of children with special needs because they need full access and medical care so that they can comfortably study at school.

Also interesting is the experience of Israeli educators in identifying gifted children - this can already be done by a primary school teacher. Such children undergo a special test and, if they are confirmed, the pupil is transferred to a special class, where he is engaged in a complicated program before completing his studies at the school.

Friends! These meetings have once again proved that Israel is an example for Ukraine; the experience of this young state can easily be borrowed and implemented in Ukrainian realities. We learned a lot about interesting perspectives and steps to improve Ukrainian education. Hopefully, they will be able to translate into reality in the nearest future.

Friends! Today Ukraine celebrates Constitution Day!

On this day in 1996, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Constitution of Ukraine. They prepared it six years, and for the adoption of the main document of the country, people's elected representatives worked for 23 hours in a row. 315 votes "FOR" and a cry of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Moroz: "There is a Constitution!" - this way we remember this event. Even then, the international community highly appreciated and endorsed the Constitution of Ukraine, called it one of the most democratic in the world.

The adoption of the Constitution consolidated the legal foundations of independent Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, became an important step in ensuring human rights and citizen, and contributed to further enhancing the international authority of Ukraine on the world stage.

Thus, in the preamble of the document it is noted that the Rada adopted the Constitution expressing the sovereign will of the people, building on the centuries-long history of Ukrainian state building and the right of self-determination made by the Ukrainian nation to all Ukrainian people, ensuring the rights and freedoms of man and decent living conditions, Caring for the strengthening of civil consent on the land of Ukraine, striving to develop and strengthen a democratic, social and legal state.

Unfortunately, now Ukraine is experiencing difficult times when the enemy struck the territorial integrity of the state, occupied a significant part of the Ukrainian land. But it has become a powerful impetus for the Ukrainian nation to rally and once again feel itself as one. "Fight - you will win, God helps you!"

Friends! On this day in 1952, Mykola Strazhesko died. He was a prominent Ukrainian physician, founder of a therapeutic school and domestic cardiology in general.

Mykola Strazhesko was born on December 30, 1876 in Odessa. His father was a lawyer, his mother was of the kind of Hetman Sagaidachny. Mykola Strazhesko was a reasonable child, he received primary education at the Rishelieu Gymnasium in Odessa. After graduation, the young man entered the medical faculty of the Kiev University. In 1899 Strazhesko graduated, received a diploma with honors and was enrolled in the Department of Pathology, which was led by Vasily Obraztsov. He immediately grasped the talent of this hard-working and capable boy and tried to help him to reach heights in every possible way. So Obraztsov made efforts to help Mykola ,to learn more, this time from the best doctors in France and Germany.

According to the fabulous coincidence, Mykola Strazhesko's marriage was also connected with Obraztsov. Once Strazhesko saved a girl- managed to extract her literally from under the hoof of the horse police. On this they said goodbye. Subsequently, the tutor of Strazhesko invited the young man for dinner. During a the dinner, he recognized the same girl whom he saved. This was Natalia, the daughter of Obraztsov. Then Nicholas realized that this was a fate. The couple married when Strazhesko was 25 years old.

Mykola Strazhesko continued to improve his knowledge. This time he was sent to St. Petersburg. For two years he had worked in the laboratory of the famous professor Ivan Pavlov. After practice, Pavlov suggested Strazhesko to write a dissertation on the physiology of the intestine. Mykola made a complex study related to enzymatic activity in the intestine, and on October 30, 1904, he received the title of Doctor of Medicine.

After that, Strazhesko returned to Kyiv. He was 28 years old and began to work at the Department of Faculty Therapy at the University of Kyiv. Subsequently, he already taught a course from the clinic of cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, Strazhesko continued to work as an assistant to Obraztsov. There is a legend that Professor Preobrazhensky and his assistant Dr. Bormental in "Dog's Heart" by Bulgakov was "written off" Obraztsov and his assistant Strazhesko. After all, in 1909, when these two scientists presented their work on heart disease, Mikhail Bulgakov entered the medical faculty of the University of Kyiv.

From 1910, Strazhesko headed various departments first at the Kiev Women's Medical Institute, later in the Alexander City Hospital. But times were difficult - so the family of a talented doctor was forced to move to Odessa for some time.

In 1922, Strazhesko returned to Kyiv. He collaborated with academician Alexander Bohomolets. The clinical department at the Institute of Experimental Biology and Pathology, which was headed by Strazhesko at the initiative of the Bohomolets, subsequently broke into the Kiev Research Institute of Clinical Medicine, whose director was Mykola Strazhesko.

Already at the age of 40, Mykola Strazhesko was one of the highest paid doctors. The patients remembered the professor in a vest ,who put his ear to the patient, listening them without tools. About the unique diagnostician went legends. The Kievans said that already the old Strazhesko was kneeling in front of the patient to listen to him. His patients became famous people: People's Artist Maria Zankovetska, actor Nikolai Sadovsky, architect Vladislav Gorodetsky., Writer Mikhail Kotsyubinsky.

In the 1930s, Strazhesko made a lot of effort to reduce cardiovascular disease and mortality. But he could not help his daughter Irina - he did not recognize tuberculosis in the girl's illness. She died at age 20.

During the Holodomor, Strazhesko was the first in the medical press to raise hunger issues - he wrote that people had edema on their throats. At first glance, it was a purely scientific text. However, the conclusion was that the patients recovered with the restoration of normal nutrition. Mykola Strazhesko was one of the few well-known doctors who directly said about the problem of illness and death from hunger.

In 1941, the physician, along with the entire Institute, was evacuated to Ufa. In Kiev, he was able to return only in 1944. But life prepared for Strazhesko a new blow. I have already told you about the "case of doctors", which was fabricated against prominent doctors at the top of the USSR. One of the doctors who came under it was the favorite student of Strazhesko Volodymyr Vasilenko. So, when known doctors were forced to sign a prosecutor, Strazhesko refused. For this he was punished - by complete and total ignoring. The institute did not receive enough funding, but most of them were forgotten.

Mykola Strazhesko could not suffer such a blow. He died on June 27, 1952, for acute myocardial infarction. The well-known Ukrainian humorist Ostap Vyshnya wrote this: "Strazhesko died -he was the beauty of medicine. The person who decorated Kiev with his face. How much nobleness, how much reason! How much heart was in this man?.

I have repeatedly told you about how the State of Israel cares about the military who defends it. Government provides all the best: starting from weapons, ending with food.

Unfortunately, as everywhere in the war, Israeli soldiers got injured. On the photo below you can see Emanuel Aminof from Tel Aviv, who lost his hand 8 years ago. He was in the cabin, when the tank was hit with a shell. Now he has received a new bionic arm - the latest development of the prosthesis, which can be used with the application on the smartphone.

The cost of such a hand is 100 thousand shekels, which in hryvnia is approximately equal to 735 thousand. The Ministry of Defense of Israel finances such prosthetics for fighters. Emanuel has one as well as other 30 IDUs with similar problems.

The bionic arm is a new generation of "smart" prosthetics. It is able to perform about 40 operations and receives signals not from the shoulder movement, like the old models, but from the nervous system and muscles of the surviving part of the limb. Such a prosthetic makes it possible not only to drive a car, do cleaning or tied laces, even to shoot. The bionic arm weighs in at 472 grams, works 36 hours, is fast recharged.

It is hard to get used to a bionic hand - doctors admitted. But hours of practice with a physiotherapist will help. The next task that now faces the Israeli Defense Forces rehabilitation department is the bionic leg that will be secured to the knee.

Friends! The soldiers who put their lives at risk every day for the sake of our peace with are the people we must be thankful to the end of our days. They should receive full support. The face of the state is its attitude to the defenders. I am sure that the Ukrainian military, their life and health should be the number one priority for Ukraine.

Friends! Today in Ukraine we celebrate Youth Day.

"Infinite hope and enthusiasm are the main wealth of the youth." This is how the Bengal and Indian writer, Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore spoke. And it was right - young people are the main motive for which there is nothing impossible, there are no prohibitions. They can do things that the older generation has no strength and inspiration to do.

The Youth Day is not only a holiday that is held annually on the last Sunday of June. Recent events in Ukraine have made society believe in youth as a future for which it is struggling. For a new consciousness, new landmarks, life without corruption and substitutions of concepts, with love to their homeland and readiness to revive the national heritage.

The new young generation of Ukrainians are people who have to remove a bunch of old stones that chokes Ukraine. We have to support their undertakings, hear the calls, extend the helping hand if necessary. We believe in you, dear young citizens. Do not give up.

Friends! Ukrainian boxers continue to support the bar of "the best of the best" in the world boxing. Recently, the authoritative edition The Ring has added to the list of TOP-5 best boxers of the world Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko.

Vasyl Lomachenko was born in the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky in the Odessa region on February 17, 1988. Vasyl began boxing in childhood, the first coach of the boy was his father Anatoly. Vasyl spent the first duel in an amateur ring at the age of 6. Then the guy beat the opponent, but officially was credited with a draw not to upset Vasily's older opponent.

Then the boy faced years of hard work and deserved victories. Now Vasily is 29, he is the most titled Ukrainian boxer, in his treasury there are title of the world champion in the WBO semi-light weight (to 57.2 kg) and the second semi-light weight (to 59.0 kg), the title of the Olympic champion (in 2008 and 2012 Years), he is a two-time world champion (2009, 2011), a European champion (2008) and a multiple champion of Ukraine.

The next Lomachenko fight should be a rematch with the Mexican Orlando Salidotto. He is the only one to whom the Ukrainian lost the match, according to judge assessments. I wish the Ukrainian talent new victories and achievements!

Friends! Ukrainians won the first "Cannes Lions" - the award of the most prestigious international festival of producers of advertising and social videos.

The Ukrainian movie "Witness" won the victory. It is about the tragedy of Babyn Yar. This work is a musical monument of terrible events that will never could be erased from our common history. The musical masterpiece of composer Svyatoslav Lunyov, written to the 75th anniversary of the tragedy, was built as an evidence of the wind - an eyewitness of those events. All power of music is emphasized by the voices of young artists who were able to convey the indescribable pain of lost souls.

It seems to me that this award is a great indicator for Ukraine. The sign that the world sees her endeavor, the country is developing. This is not only an award for unrivaled creative work - it's an advertisement of the country in the world, which is now very much needed in Ukraine. I thank those who created the video "Witness", made him so touching that hits the very heart. I am sure there are still many victories in Ukraine ahead, and not only the "Cannes Lions". I now invite you to watch a winning video and show it to those who have not yet seen it.

Friends, today in Ukraine is the Day of Sorrow and the commemoration of the victims of the war.

On this day in 1941 Ukrainian land felt the first blows of the enemy. During the Second World War, each fifth Ukrainian died. In general, Ukraine suffered the most from Hitler's aggression and from the devastating miscalculations of the Stalinist leadership.

The Ukrainian direction was one of the most important according to the Barbarossa plan. Tens of thousands of innocent people have fallen into the bloody wheel of war. It is impossible not to mention all the horrors of the Holocaust in Ukrainian land. The biggest tragedy of the occupation, the extermination of the civilian population in Babi Yar in Kyiv, will never be erased from memory. In total, during the war years, 3.9 million civilians were killed in Ukraine.

Another terrible tragedy was the mass deportation - about 2.4 million people were taken to Germany from Ukraine. Tens of thousands of them died. In general, Ukrain lost more people in the Second World than the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and France combined, total losses, according to various estimates, reach 10 million. 714 towns and settlements of urban type, more than 28 thousand villages, have become ruins.

We paid too much because of collisions between two totalitarian regimes. It is a pity that the war has left the Ukrainian lands for a short time, and now Ukrainians are also defending their homeland from the invaders. On this day, it is worth remembering all those who are not among us, who paid a high price for our future. And also to wish health, strength and inspiration to those who now with arms continue to protect our present. We thank you.

This night in Lviv happened a shouting incident. The unknown distorted the stele on the Synagogue Square with provocative inscriptions and symbols.

I hope that the guilty will be delayed as soon as possible. Moreover, the incident was captured on video surveillance cameras. I am grateful to the mayor of Lviv, who personally asked the police and the SBU to speed up the search. I am sure that the city authorities will do everything possible to punish the perpetrators.

Of course, I am extremely indignant that such a case occurred in Lviv, one of the most tolerant cities. That was damaged one of the steles of the "Space of Synagogues", which had been opened not long ago. These are unacceptable things. It's a pity that by putting so much effort into the development of Ukrainian-Israeli friendship, there are still people who are doing such things to leave a negative footing. Twice more unpleasant is the fact that it was young people, as eyewitnesses said.

Antisemitism and racism must be destroyed in the embryo. We must make every effort to do this. I am convinced that this attempt to stir up interethnic hatred will not take place.

Friends! Yesterday attended the opening of an exhibition of graphics by an Israeli artist KLONE called "Foreign Motherland". It takes place in the Kyiv Educatorium Art Space.

Interestingly, KLONE was born in 1983 in Ukraine, in the city of Kharkiv. Now he lives and works in Tel Aviv. This his exhibition is about the fictional "code of the nomad". The fact that each person has a gene laid by ancestors, who were forced to migrate due to weather changes or other discomfort. About how it is revealed and still presents in migrants, refugees, adventurers. And more about how to feel your homeland - even if from the mentions about it were left only the horizons. KLONE has not been to Ukraine for 22 years, so this concept has a special meaning for him.

Firstly, the painter mostly painted graffiti. Subsequently, he was invited to create moralis in Europe, the Middle East and the United States. Nowadays, with his graphic works can get acquainted contemporary art lovers from Ukraine - the exhibition will be held from today to July 6 at the following address: Kyiv, street. Reytarska 8b. Free entrance.

I have repeatedly said that Ukrainians and Israelis must learn more about the modern culture of one another, rather than living with the old ideas about it. In my opinion, this exhibition is a good chance to look into the interesting world of graphics from the Ukrainian-Israeli creator.

Friends, on this day in 1929,died a prominent Ukrainian public figure, philanthropist, publisher of the daily Ukrainian newspaper "Rada" Yevgeny Chykalenko . He was a man for whom Ukraine stood in the first place, he dreamed of a Ukrainian national revival, and did everything in his power for the country to flourish.

Eugene Chykalenko was born on the 21st of December, 1861 in the village of Pereshory in the Kherson region. His father Harlampi was a landowner, and had two more children - Ivan and Galina. After the parents dispersed, all the children remained withfather. Harlampi died when Eugene was only 10 years old. The child was brought up by his uncle. Boy studied at the Elisavetgrad real school, along with such distinguished personalities as Panas Saksagansky, Ivan Karpenko-Kary and Alexander Tarkovsky. After completing his studies in 1881, he traveled to Kyiv, but there he was not able to become a student for formal reasons. But at this time, Chykalenko met Professor of History Volodymyr Antonovich, composer Mykola Lysenko, bibliographer Mikhail Komarov and others. Together they took part in the work of the Dictionary Commission, whose activities subsequently turned into a well-known "Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language", edited by Boris Grinchenko.

Later, Evgeniy Chykalenko joined the Natural Sciences Faculty of Kharkov University. There he met with his future wife - Maria Sadikova. Uncle-guardian Eugene was against their marriage, because he had a bride with a big dowry for the boy. But their love was stronger than money, so in the end uncle had to come to terms. During the study, Eugene joined the "Community". For taking part in public activities, Chykalenko was sentenced to five years in police custody in Pereshory. There, Eugene was engaged in farming, introduced the most modern agrarian innovations. After that, he wanted to teach peasants new knowledge in the field of agriculture.

In 1884, Chykalenko moved to Odessa with his family. There he actively participated in public activities. He was a well-known philanthropist, gave money to the publication of the Russian-Ukrainian dictionary by Umanets-Komarov, gave the award for the best written history of Ukraine and paid royalties for Ukrainian works printed in the “Kievan old town”, was the main founder of the Academic House in Lviv , Encouraged youth to go to study to Lviv ...

In 1897, the first book of Chykalenko "A Conversation on Agriculture" was published in Odessa. Black pairs, fruit changes and sown grass ", which had a tremendous success with the peasantry. For the period from 1897 to 1918, six books were published for peasants.

Yevhen Chykalenko was fond of the Ukrainian national movement "not only to the depths of the soul, but also to the depths of the pockets ", as he himself said. And he really did as much as he could. When Mykhailo Hrushevskyi called for the donation of money for the construction of the Academic House in Lviv, Yevhen Chykalenko allocated 25 thousand rubles, subject to the provision of rooms there primarily to students from the Dnieper Ukraine. For this, grateful students on on the 8th of December, 1930, opened a memorial plaque on the wall of the institution with the inscription: "For the eternal memory of a great citizen of Yevhen Chykalenko, the founder of this House. - Ukrainian Students. 7.XI.1930. "

In 1905, Yevgeny Chykalenko decided to publish the daily newspaper of Ukraine on the Dnieper first. At first, it was called "Public Opinion", and then - "Rada". He spent a lot of money on the publication, when there was no profit. But Yevgeny Chykalenko was convinced that Ukrainians should have their dailynewspaper. In order to finance the newspaper, it was necessary to sell part of the land in Pereshory. The magazine was published before the beginning of the First World War.

In autumn 1914, because of the threat of arrest, Chykalenko traveled to Finland. He returned to Kiev in 1917, he was even offered to head the Central Rada - but he refused because of bad health. In 1919 Eugene moved to Galicia, and from there he was interned by Poles. From 1920 he was in Austria, and in 1925 he moved to Czechoslovakia, where he worked as the Chairman of the Terminology Commission at the Ukrainian Academy of Economics in Poděbrady. In exile he lived in extreme poverty. The Ukrainian New York newspaper “Svoboda” even announced the collection of funds for its treatment. He died in 1929 in the Czech Republic, having ordered to dispel his ashes in his native village of Pereshory.

"Although the Ukrainian people lost much of their ancient name and many of his talented sons enriched the treasuries of their neighbors, they nevertheless approached the time when the Ukrainian people will rank the same position as other cultural nations of the world under their new name" Ukrainians " "- wrote Eugene Chykalenko. The eternal memory to this man who believed and loved Ukraine above all else.

Friends! Today, the world celebrates the Father's Day.

Like Mother's Day, Americans began to celebrate Father's Day first. A girl named Sonora Smart Dodd offered to celebrate this day. In 1909 she prepared this initiative in a memory of her father, who after the death of his wife brought up five children. She addressed many people to her proposal and they heard it. First, Father's Day was celebrated in her native state, and later the holiday was celebrated across America.

Different countries celebrate Father's Day on different days, most of them on the third Sunday of June. In Ukraine, this holiday has not yet been approved at the official level, therefore there are discrepancies in the date of its holding.

As you know, in Israel family ties are very much appreciated, they love and respect their family, they try to spend as much free time as possible with their relatives. This is a very correct position, because the family is the greatest wealth. I am myself the father of six children, and not taking into account the high employment, I try to find time for everyone. Dad is the main example for inheritance, so depending on how you behave, it depends on what your children will grow and how they will behave. Give them your love and they will return it in full.

Great influence on the whole family did stories of one of the Gal’s grandfathers, who at the time of the Holocaust was held in concentration camp. Friends! On this day in 1941 was born the famous Ukrainian actor Ivan Mykolaichuk. He played 34 prominent roles, made 9 scenarios, two director's work. He was called a symbol of Ukrainian cinema, soul of Ukrainian movie, he wholeheartedly loved his job. Sergei Paradjanov said about Mykolaichuk: "I do not know a man, who can be more national and folk genius ... Before him it was Dovzhenko." This person of enormous proportions could now celebrate its 76th anniversary. But unfortunately, the genius of Ukrainian cinema is no longer among us.

Ivan Mykolaichuk was born in the village Chortoryia on the 15th of June, 1941. His parents were ordinary peasants, had 13 children. The guy has had the desire for art since childhood – at the age of 12 he played in amateur theater. Then - entered music school in Chernivtsi, graduated from the studio theater/ There he met with his future wife Mary Karp'yuk. The history of their acquaintance was very funny - girl played Frog and guy - croak for it behind the scenes. But a funny story turned into a huge love.

In 1963 Mikolaichuk moved to Kyiv - became a student of the Kiev Institute of Theater Art named after Karpenko-Kary. The first film debut came just at the student times when the boy was asked to play in course work "Two" by Leonid Osyka.

While studying in the second year, Mikolaichuk immediately began acting in two films that made him famous. The first film was "Dream", where the actor played the role of Taras Shevchenko. He did not only popularize the image of the poet, he submitted it, passed through himself, managed to convey great love of poet to Ukraine. The second role was Ivan Paliychuk in the "Shadows of forgotten ancestors." This film is still calling card of Ukrainian cinema to the world. At the time, he received 39 international awards, 28 awards at film festivals and entered the Guinness Book of Records. What did Mikolaichuk on the screen - was incredible. His image has inspired Ukrainian artists, writers, actors and musicians to return to their own roots. It was extremely important, because of the times when they had to live. One proof of the reality of this effect was incident at film premiere in Kiev, when a group of intellectuals, among which was Vasyl Stus, rose from their seats in protest against the oppression of pro-Ukrainian minded intellectuals.

Ivan Mikolaichuk gave us many wonderful roles. I think each of you has your favorite picture and it makes no sense to list all.

In 1970 for the whole of the creative elite and for Ivan Mykolaichuk particularly started hard times. Parajanov was arrested, Mikolaichuk was guilted in "nationalism". The incident ended by denunciation in Kyiv, where the famous actor was categorized as " man of hostile ideology." After the film "White Bird with Black Mark" he started to be questioned regularly.

Gradually actor was replaced on the screen. Over 5 years, on the instructions of the government, his name was scratched from most of the crews, although the filmmakers wanted to see the actor in their films.

Only in 1979, thanks to the protection secretary for ideological work of the Kharkiv Regional Committee of the Communist Party Vladimir Ivashko Ivan was managed to get permission to shoot the legendary film "Babylon XX". Of course, the film was subjected to strict censorship. His wife later told that the removal from profession and censorship of "Babylon" led to serious feelings, which then led to cancer.

Mikolaichuk starred in several films, prepared the script for the film "Stories about John," but waited permission to shoot. In 1986, when the film finally could be shoot, the actor could not do it. Ivan Mikolaichuk died on the 3d of August, 1987 in Kyiv.

Friends! Ivan Mikolaichuk was not just an actor. His talent showed Ukrainian who they are. Not the image that was popular in Soviet times - Ukrainian, who thinks mundane categories and is concerned only about their own welfare and satiety. He broke this stereotype and showed all Ukrainian soul real life - full of depth, ready to exploit for its nation. Eternal gratitude and remembrance.

Friends!

Friends, on this day in 1919 died Oleksandr Murashko - Ukrainian painter, educator and social activist. He was called the first European from Ukraine. And he went into history as an unrivaled Ukrainian portrait painter.

Oleksandr Murashko was born on the 7th of September, 1875 in Kiev. Up to 7 years, his grandmother brought him up in the town Borzny in Chernihiv. She told the grandson about Cossack times, told stories, made the most important - awakened the imagination of the child. Subsequently, his mother eventually took the child with her. She moved with her son to new husband Olexander in Chernigov.

Stepfather Olexander had his own workshop on iconography and began to attract a guy into his work. The new father was offered a job in Kiev - so the whole family moved to the famous house on the street Mala Zhitomyrska, 14. Small Olexander saw a grand event - the decoration of the Volodymyr cathedral. He fell in love with painting.

As often happens, Olexander Murashko first did not find a common language with his stepfather and at the age of 15 he had to start earning money for living. But hard work, living from hand to mouth and nights on the street confounded signs - boy felt ill. He returned to the family. Stepfather adopted the boy and gave him his name. And yet - prepared to enter the academy. Along with stepfather uncle Mykola Murashko taught him drawing.

In autumn 1894, Olexander Murashko entered the Higher Art School at the St. Petersburg Academy, and in 1896 became a student of the famous workshop of Ilya Repin. Like his stepfather, first relationship with r Repin did not evolve. But vanity of young talent eventually passed. Under the mentoring Repin, he even won a contest for a trip abroad. He visited Rome and Venice, lived in Munich and Rome.

Olexander worked hard on self-improvement and it gave a result. For example, the picture of "Carousel", written in 1906, brought international recognition to the artist. It was presented at the Munich International Exhibition, where it received a gold medal. Talented artist was invited to different European capitals.

The artist opened the way to a better world not only for himself, but for the whole Ukrainian art. He raised it to the European level. After such excitement Olexander returned home - in 1907 he moved to Kyiv. In two years, he met his soul mate - married Margaret Krueger. Later they adopted girl Catherine.

Olexander dreamed of a great achievement not only for himself, but also for the entire Kyiv. He wanted to turn it into a big art center, such as Munich and Paris, opened the Academy of Arts. He taught others to draw - first taught at the Kyiv Art School, and later opened his own art studio.

Talented artist really burned about his work, he had many artistic plans. One of his dreams was implemented - in 1917 was opened the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts. But the life of Olexander Murashko was taken by KGB. He returned home with his wife when he was shot in the head. Instead, press then wrote that he "was robbed and killed by bandits." Oleksandr Murashko was buried near his home in Lukyanovka cemetery.

But it was impossible to deceive people from art circles, they were among the first, who noticed bloody red terror. After the death of the talented artist all gathered at the largest exhibition of his works initiated by Theodore Ernst.

Eternal memory to this talented man.

In high school Ivan had hard times, he was often reviled because of his origin. Also, all lectures were conducted in Polish, that guy did not know. But he was not weak. He became one of the best students.

Friends! You know that Israel is a country whose top priority is safety. Therefore, the state supports and finances all innovations in defense industry. Recently at the International Ground Warfare & Logistics Brigadier Conference General Didi Ben Jehoash of Israel Defense Ministry presented a program about advanced fighting machines for IDF.

They are so-called "mini-tanks", created by three Israeli companies (IAI, Rafael and Elbit Systems). General assured that the new armored machines will become a "quantum leap", compared to all other models that currently exist.

"Mini-tanks" can be used for different needs. The crew will consist of two people. They will just accept a decision; all tasks will be executed by automated system. There is also a place for the commander of a combat unit in the tank.

The engine will be hybrid, also there will be the universal protection system, so combat vehicle can be used in open areas, and in terms of fighting in the city. On the "mini-tank" can be set any weapons, from machine guns to missiles.

I am sure that Ukraine should follow the example of Israel in defense, for Ukrainian army needs support and innovation that will help to protect Ukrainian military power.

Together with his parents he lived in a commune, on the outskirts of a town. Real name of Petro Vesklyarov - Vesklyar, however for some reason he hid it. Perhaps because of Jewish roots in another version – because he fled from German troops. From the youth Peter was interested in theater, he attended local theater.

On the big stage for the first time Vesklyarov appeared in 1932 - he was noticed by the theater artists from Cherkassy who came to Talne. They invited him to become an actor.

After the war Peter was sent to a military theater of the Southwestern Front. Once Vesklyarov and others other were attacked, but he managed to escape. He moved to Kyiv, where he was employed on the railway, and later organized a theatrical circle there. After the war, the actor moved to Lutsk, settled in the Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko, where he worked for more than a decade. There he played a lot of good roles - Nicholas Zadorozhniy in the "Stolen Happiness", Commander of the "Master stones" and others.

There Peter found his other half. There worked a receptionist Galina worked who captivated the heart of the actor. They married and the couple had a son, Boris.

In 50 -s on Ukrainian radio was an actor who called himself Grandfather Panas. Petro Vesklyarov once replaced him, because the man was old and felt ill. And finally replaced him in general. Children adored listening to tales of Grandfather Panas, who often wrote Ukrainian-speaking fairy-tales himself.

With the advent of television program with tales was decided to move to the blue screens. On the role of Grandfather Panas claimed two hundred people, but still defeated Petro Vesklyarov. So he became the main children's hero. Grandfather Panas traditionally worn on vyshyvanka. For that, a heap of language, he often was judged for nationalism. In the seventies, even been several attempts to close the program or replace Petro Vesklyarov by someone else. The important role played by the indignant crowd - they wrote thousands of letters to the editorial office demanding the return of Peter Vesklyarova.

But the program still was closed in 1988. Petro Vesklyarov retired, lived modestly, in a studio apartment with his wife. He died on the 5th of January 1994.

"Good evening to you, baby, dear boys and girls. It's me, grandfather Panas ... "- this legendary phrase is well-known, even by those who did not see a single program" Good night, kids. " I think the image of Grandfather Panas is as eternal as the value, that espoused Peter Vesklyarov - love for the motherland, praise of traditions. Let us remember such people more often.

Friends! Today is 116 years from the birth of Boris Grabowski, Ukrainian scientist who invented television.

Boris was born in the family of the famous Ukrainian poet Pavlo Grabowski. His poems are well-known by Ukrainians. Future scientist’s father was a revolutionary who fought for national freedom of Ukraine. Therefore in 1889 he was sent to Yakutia by the royal order and later in exile in Tobolsk. His wife Anastasia was near. There was born Boris Grabowski. Pavlo Grabowski died when his son was only 1,5 years. Then Anastasia and son moved to Odessa and then to Kharkiv.

In early 1917 Grabowski moved to the Kyrgyz village of Tokmak. In the 20's two-year Boris studied at a special school in Tashkent, where he was sent after his high ability in training. Subsequently, Boris entered the preparatory course of Central Asian University. In this place he worked as a laboratory and researcher in physics. Once in the library he found works of Boris Rozynh in electronic telescopes. Grabowski realized that for decades scientists were unsuccessfully working to create electronic television and wanted to invent it.

He made the first significant discovery in his 23. He invented the cathode switch, which became the basis for the transmission of television tubes. But then the work stopped - the boy lacked knowledge. Boris moved to Saratov, where his aunt lived. She introduced a young scientist with teachers of mathematics and physics Piskunov and Popov.

Together they began to make experiments. On the 26th of June, 1928 at 12.00 scientists witnessed the birth of the world's first electronic television. On a small screen was seen as another inventor Byelyanskyy removed and put cap. Transmitter was at the experimental station, and a receiver at the Ministry of Communications. This distance was only 30 meters, but this was the first transfer of the moving image. Two weeks later, the experiment was repeated on Tashkent streets, was filmed passing traffic tram. The invention was called "telephot".

The next logical step was to present "telephot" in Moscow. All necessary equipment was forwarded by mail. When the package was opened, it was found that the equipment was completely broken. The Commission, to which the invention showed Grabowski found him hopeless. There is a theory that the NKVD banned Boris telephot to develop.

At the difficult times, when he continued his projects, Boris was supported by Paton, who wrote that the idea for getting cathode beam has been successfully used in the Institute of Electric.

But the biggest blow was waiting ahead. A few years later Grabowski rad Mitchell Wilson's book. There were told about all his accomplishments and inventions, however... It told they were made in America by Russian emigrant scientist Vladimir Zvarykin. He started to fight for the truth. Only 35 years after the invention of telephot Boris Grabowski received a letter from the State Committee of the USSR electronics with the recognition and priority patent on the device for electronic telescopes. Later his role in the creation of television and acknowledged world.

In 1966, a year after the title of Honored inventor Boris Grabowski died.

I think everyone should know about the achievements of this outstanding scientist.

Friends! Today I want to tell you a story about Eugeniusz Sławomir Łazowski and Stanisław Matulewicz - Polish doctors, who saved about 8,000 Jews in the time of the Holocaust through a single scientific tricks.

Eugeniusz was born in 1913 in Poland. He received his medical training before the start of World War II. He graduated from University named Jozef Pilsudski in Warsaw. After graduation he enlisted to the front, however almost immediately was captured. Escaped and began to engage in partisan work. But then I realized that medical skills more useful in war times. Together with his wife and small daughter, he moved to the city Rozvadov, which was located near several villages and Jewish ghetto. Łazowski worked side by side with his friend - Dr. Stanisław Matulewicz

Eugeniusz secretly began to help those who needed medical care in the ghetto. He asked his patients to mark the doors of houses that require a doctor and came there at night and treated patients.

But people understood - as Jews are not saved. We needed a more global plan. He invented how to help everyone - Poles of forcible eviction on to Germany and the Jews - to save lives.

Even before the war Matulewicz discovered that if to human blood addmthe dead bacteria Proteus OX19, then the fever tesy will be positive. This patient remains healthy. So doctors "infected" by fever Poles, for patients not treated Jews would be killed and on the spot.

German troops left the city, where were the "raging epidemic." And announced a quarantine on the entire surrounding area. But the number of victims of the epidemic was too small, so to Rozvadov were sent doctor, who had to check the situation. He came with two students.

Łazowski and Matulewicz previously learned about the guest and prepared him a warm welcome. After the feast, he sent his assistants to take the tests. They were very afraid of catching the disease tested because few patients (who actually got fever).

After returning from a trip the doctor confirmed the presence of the epidemic in Rozvadov, and so for some time for the city and residents of surrounding areas failed to win. As it turned out, enough to wait until the end of the German occupation.

After the Second World War Eugeniusz moved to America through Rockefeller Foundation grant. They then worked as a doctor and taught at the University of Illinois. He lived in in Oregon until his death in 2006. About Dr. Łazowski was even filmed a documentary "private war", based on the stories of people whose family were saved through fictitious memoirs of the epidemic and Lazo.

Friends, stories of people like Eugeniusz Sławomir Łazowski are inspiring. When one combines the intelligence and humanity, it is able to do grand things. I wish that to each of you.

Friends! Today, at the invitation of the organizers I made a speech at the gala concert of the International Festival of Jewish music LvivKlezFest.

Lviv has always been a multicultural city where many different communities coexisted. From the beginning, Lviv became native for Jews, later here the Jewish community was the largest, there were even two of them: one in the city, the other in the suburbs. Due to its multicultural character, Lviv was and still is tolerant city. That is why the Jews were able to maintain their cultural heritage and museums in the city, there were kept many items of Judaism, Torah scrolls, paintings by Jewish artists.

As Honorary Consul of Israel in Western Ukraine I think that one of my main roles is to develop and support Jewish culture. I am very happy that this festival takes place in Lviv. This is a good opportunity for fans not only to get acquainted with Jewish culture, but also touch the particles of the Jewish soul.

Unfortunately, in Soviet times, many people were forced to forget their roots. But now they come back to it. Many descendants of Galician Jews come here to plunge into this unique atmosphere and feel the unity.

Unfortunately, Ukraine is going through hard times. But we want to show the world that we have the strength to live, create, transmit to our descendant’s cultural heritage.

I want to thank all the guests of the festival for the skill and inspiration. I am honored to among such talented people. I also want to thank the guests from different countries for their support and solidarity with Ukraine.

You know that this year's festival slogan is: "Jewish music unites in Lviv!" I think here we should meet again and again in the future. I wish you good mood and real fun!
