Friends!

Friends! On this day in 1874 was born Ivan Semanyuk - Ukrainian writer and lawyer, better known under the pseudonym Marko Cheremshyna.

Ivan was born in the village Kobaky, Ivano-Frankivsk region on the 13th of June, 1874 in an ordinary peasant family. His father and mother worked hard, the guy was actually brought up by grandparents. They gave grandson atmosphere in which every child needs to be grown, full of traditions, national songs and legends.

Father ov Ivan was very polite and decent man, proud of familiarity with the writer Yuri Fedkovych, shared his views on Ukrainian national revival. Yuri Semanyuk taught his son to love books and on leaving school in 1889 - prepared him for entering gymnasium in Kolomya.

In high school Ivan had hard times, he was often reviled because of his origin. Also, all lectures were conducted in Polish, that guy did not know. But he was not weak. He became one of the best students.

Later guy began to write – his first work was drama "Violent", which young writer sent to the contest announced by the Lviv magazine "Dawn". The critics rated it positively, but eventually "Frantic" was not printed. And a year later under the pseudonym Mark Cheremshyna (according to one version, after the river Cheremosh), Ivan sent his story "Helmsman" to the newspaper "Bucovina". And it was printed in 1896. The same year, Ivan graduated from high school and decided to enter the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna. But he lacked money, so had to book the cheapest faculty - law.

In Vienna apartment of Mark conscious Ukrainian gathered. They discussed a variety of topics - from literature to politics. Semanyuk continued his literary work, wrote book reviews, translations of world famous works. He wrote stories that were published in the journal "Call."

Learning guy graduated in 1901, and after graduation got an assistant attorney in Delyatyn town, where he knew all the joys and challenges of Hutsul life. In 1912 Ivan moved to Sniatyn, where he opened his own law office. There he met his future wife - Natalia Karp'yuk. In 1914 they were married.

Cheremshyna’s Office became the center of social and educational life of Snyatynschyna. But during World War I couple had to move from town to the village Kobaky. In this atmosphere Cheremshyna wrote works "Pomennyk", "Diary" and novels, which became well-known book "Village vyhybaye."

In addition, Cheremshyna saw another tragedy - the defeat of the Ukrainian revolution, after which the western lands were ruled by the Polish nobility. He continued to believe that the idea of national revival of Ukraine is about to blossom. Often called upon the youth to unite in one nation, conducted educational work.

Writer's life ended suddenly on 25th of April, 1927 went to punish the grave of his father, went to the cemetery and died right at the gate. Semanyuk was only 52 years old.

Friends! I think you understand that the idea of Ukrainian national revival – is not new, it professed a decade ago. But most importantly - continue to implement and cause people such as Ivan Semanyuk and know that no one can overcome strong nation.
