Friends!
109 years ago, was born Alexa Vlyzko - talented Ukrainian writer. Unfortunately, his life was very short: at the age of 26 it ended in one of the prison rooms of the October Palace. Stalin's terror took his life, but his memory is the thing we should cherish.
Alexa Vlyzko was born in 1908 in the Novgorod province. His father was a clerk. Oleksy had two brothers - Alexander and Avenir. Eventually the family moved to Synhayivky, home of his grandfather.
Young Alex was a very capable young man, at the age of three he could read, at seven he wrote his first poems. When the boy was 14, a terrible tragedy happened. Brothers were having fun at the rink when Avenir fell into the hole. The boys tried to save him, but it did not help. They were alone in the icy water, and younger brother died. Alexander recovered, while Olexa permanently lost his hearing. Father could not survive the loss, so he began to drink. Occasionally he beat his wife Mary. The woman had the spirit to put an end to the violence, so one day, she took the children and went with them to Kyiv. Took a job as a cleaner at the hospital. The family was forced to live in the church. There Oleksa wrote his first poems in Ukrainian.
Loss of hearing has not stopped the guy on the contrary, he began to read a lot and understand the world through books. Olexa easily finished the language and literature department of the Kiev Institute of Education. At the age of 20 he went to travel – first through Germany, then - to the Pamir highlands.
Path of the literature was revealed to Vlyzko by the Boris Antononenko-Davidovich. He published in the magazine "Globus" Olexa’s poem "Heart to north." During his short life, he managed to write nine books of poetry and a book of essays.
Olexa Vlyzko was extremely talented and interesting guy, did not afraid adventures. Imagine, in 1927 in the newspaper "Communist" was the obituary that Vlyzko died in the river. But it was a joke, which he denied with his characteristic irony.
Not surprisingly, special writer had a special charm, which bribed its mate - Fotin, granddaughter of Taras Shevchenko. They lived together poorly but happily, in the basement of a house on the Striletska street.
But the happiness was short-lived. In December 1934 Vlyzko was arrested. And not only one - a group of Ukrainian cultural figures were too. There are two versions of when the writer died. According to the first, he was killed immediately after interrogation on the night of 7th to 8th of December. In the second - from December 14th to 15th , after passing the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court death sentence for belonging to "counterrevolutionary terrorist organization."
"But the most unfortunate country - is my home country. – The holder has to die. – I never worship him. "These were the lines of one of the poems of Oleksa Vlyzko. The man who could not hear, had a strong word, that was like an echo in the hearts of others. That is why he was killed, although he was very young. The problem of Ukrainians now is to make the country, which could be built be talented people who are killed by Stalin's regime, become not unhappy, but happy.
