Every modern city faces the problem of recycling of waste.

On average, a modern person produces 2 kg of waste per day, and recycling plants in many Ukrainian cities are of Soviet manufacturing. How is this problem “being solved” in Ukraine? That's right - they create huge waste deposits, which burn and poison water, air and soil later.

In Israel, recycling of waste is also a costly and problematic process, but here they try to solve problems, not create new ones. Everyone is well aware that food scraps are a valuable source of gas and fertilizer. So Israelis have invented a special biogas system for home use, which turns food scraps into gas for cooking, as well as into liquid fertilizer. The Israeli startup HomeBiogas is adapted for private homes. This system is a simple airproof tank in size of 1.5 by 1.5 meters. From 3 kg of scraps it evolves gas, sufficient for 3 hours of cooking. They know how to make money from waste in Israel and that's it. Taking into account today's cost of utility tariffs, I think that such know-how would be very relevant for Ukrainians.

Moreover, a by-product of the device functioning is a high-quality liquid fertilizer, which doubles a yield of a garden and save water for wetting. This device doesn’t need to be connected to operate, it does not require an external power supply source - everything works on mechanical and biological processes.

The cost of such device is 1000 USD. Today HomeBiogas sells its product in 35 countries of the world. Interestingly, the main buyers of the startup are developing countries, where people have a lack of energy and have to cook on wood or charcoal, and super developed countries, where people care about the environment and are engaged in separate recycling.

While Ukrainians are growing and emitting tons of food scraps, Israelis are making money on them and build a business. I am sure that such a product would also be extremely useful and high-demand in Ukraine.
