Dr. Amit Goffer, who was for many years conducting research in the field of physiology, presented his new development - a robotic exoskeleton. This device allows paralyzed people to move around in a fully upright position.
20 years ago, Dr. Goffer was the victim of a car accident, since then he uses a wheelchair. He did not accept the selection, that was offered at the market and he started to work on their own device that would be able to help him. As a result, after years of work, he invented his first mechanical design - Robotic leg - which helps paralyzed man to walk. Unit energy charge is enough for five hours; it understands commands such as "sit", "stand", "forward". In fact, the principle of operation of the device is not complicated, and learning how to use it can be the same as driving a car.
The problem was that Goffer couldn’t control the robot with his hands. Then hes invented an entire exoskeleton that helps the patient to move, not only indoors but also outdoors. The device automatically balances and stabilizes the person. From a sitting to standing position of the chair goes by one click of a button. In the near future the device will be tested in Israel and New York. And sales will start, according to the creators plans during the next year: the price will be approximately 30-35 thousand dollars.
