Today in Lviv for the 23rd time "Publishers Forum" started its work.

For three days of the forum organizers will hold more than a thousand different events. Forum as always will gather the cream of Ukrainian and European cultural elite to discuss the current problems of culture, literature and geopolitics.

One of the central events of the forum this year will be the festival "Lem’s City" dedicated to a citizen of Lviv, a Jew, a science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem. The festival will consist of presentations, film screenings, discussion clubs, virtual and real tours through the Lem places.

The idea of this festival belongs to the Polish intellectual and dissident, former Director of the Institute of Books of Grzegorz Gaudi and cultural manager, the director of the literary part of the program "Wroclaw - European Capital of Culture 2016" Irek Green.

Stanislaw Lem was born in 1921 in Lviv. Great science fiction writer, philosopher, critic, satirist, and futurist, he literally foresee the future of our civilization, anticipated the development of modern science. Lem’s books have been translated into 41 languages; his works were filmed dozens of times. How many of you have not seen the amazing "Solaris"?

This year in Lviv "Lem’s City" brought together participants from different cities of Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Canada, Russia and Belarus. The main aim of the festival organizers to highlight the Places of Lem on the map of modern Lviv and Lem’s dissemination of ideas among Ukrainian readers. In the future, the Festival will be held regularly - every two years.

In general, the Jewish theme this year will be fairly well represented at the Forum. The program includes the presentation of the "Babi Yar" book edited by Dr. Vladislav Grinevich and Professor Robert Magosci (Canada), the presentation of the "On the cross-roads: Ivan Franco and the Jewish question in Galychyna" book, presentation of Ruben Felshman diaries about the Warsaw ghetto, the presentation of the book by Dr. Robert Magosci and Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern "Jews and Ukrainians: common life over the millennia", presentation of the book of poems for children by Gregory Falkovich "Shalahmonesi" with illustrations by the artist Paul Fishel and more.
